I placed a $2,000 deposit for the only allocation available to the BMW dealer in my city in April 2011. It was a painful 6 month wait but I finally took delivery in October 2011. I have put 28,000 miles since. I flirted with the idea of selling her a few weeks back, but after taking her for a few late night spins, I reconsidered. I'll probably keep her forever now, circumstances allowing.

The one and only owner
Deposit of $1K in March of 2011, the car came in September. Everyone at the dealership (employees and customers) acted like a celebrity had arrived. I'm now within a hear of 40,000 miles. I never thought a hard-top would compete with my beloved 1998 Z3 (which I've had since 1998) in the summer, but it's hard to put it away.

Still have mine
Had $$ in 2-3 different locations and got extremely lucky...as a veteran it was poetic justice to get this car on 11/11/11. Drove it all over Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Belgium, France, Luxemburg and now USA. Just over 19,000 amazing miles....just put a Cobb tune on it and it's breathing fire
No plans to sell at this time....

haha appropriate time to rekindle this old thread given a number of 2nd generation owners on the board now! I'm still enjoying mine after 27 months, not letting it go and can't wait to park a M2 next to it!!

I've still got mine, and I just clicked over 60,000 miles today. I occasionally get tempted, mostly by GT Porsches, but particularly as the manual seems to be going the way of the dodo in the new ones I suspect I'll hold on to the 1M for a long, long time...

Pfffft... I can't believe any of you plunked down cash to pick up a soulless M car with a non-M engine back in the days when people hadn't read reviews and been swayed by the journals that it's a new age classic. We lucky late comers got to buy it when the prices became eyewateringly stupid because we had the privilege to pay the "unicorn tax." Thank God we were smart.
Shoulda taken your deposits back and gotten Cayman Ss instead. Newwwbz. |

$500 deposit in June of 2011 after getting a large raise. Picked up Thanksgiving weekend 2011 for MSRP. Just hit 20,000 miles.
Also, I just bought a historic farm house with a detached garage that is the same square footage as my previous house!!! Growler, as my 1M was named by my wife, will soon begin her reign of the garage! Forgot to mention that said historic farmhouse is less than 10 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway |

I put a $2,000 deposit down in April 2011. My order was in "Status 112" limbo until September 2011, when I finally got a production number. I did European delivery in late October 2011. U.S. redelivery was in mid-December 2011.
Read more at my 1M European Delivery thread here: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=645095 Was my daily driver until November 2012 when it became my weekend/fun car. It's currently at 34,000 miles.

I was just thinking about bumping this post again. I still have mine 5200 miles on her. I don't see myself ever selling this car. My son has requested the car be passed down to him in my will
