Superchips announced their remaps for 120d/123d

120d after remap; 220hp & 444nm
123d after remap; 249hp & 458nm

After remap, 120d becomes closer to 123d. Those are interesting numbers. Any ideas?

I've seen it on their website for months now, perhaps they are actually available now.

Figures look very impressive.

Very interesting...

According to their website though, the 123d goes to 250hp and 492Nm.

I can't speak for the 120d or 123d but on the 135i the difference with the chip is very noticeable. I think it's a great upgrade with big performance increases.

Would love to get it but my car is booked in for a new clutch after 5000kms so I'm a bit nervous about giving it more power. It seems there are a batch of 123d's with a fault in the clutch mechanism that causes them to start slipping and destroys the clutch very quickly.

Wow that is low mileage for a new clutch. Hope it's covered under warranty.

Yep, warranty. It better not happen again. I'm the most careful driver in the world with my new car. So unfair.

Although in 10 days I'm taking it to Wales

There's some great roads in Wales. I highly recommend A496 to Barmouth - Great coastal roads, stunning views, A470 - amazing valley's, great twisty road. You get to that area and pretty much all routes in that region are some of the best in the UK.

@123D-M

Interesting. My clutch plate and flywheel was replaced very early on to try and get rid of an intermittent judder. It's better, but can still get it to do it, especially in reverse. My folks place has a v. steep drive, and sometimes wonder if it's going to make the top.

Mentioned it again when it was last at the dealers, and they said all was to spec, but there was an issue with 1er clutches logged on their system, with possibly some ECU update in the future to cure what they called 'transmission snap'. Basically sounded like clutch couldn't deal with the torque, so ECU would back off a bit. As you say, I'd be a bit wary of remapping mine.

What was the symptom with yours?

Sounds weird. Mine is about 15000km without any problem.

I have a judder when I take off in 1st. It's not too bad but it is irritating. At least we don't have any hills in Belgium...

All my symptoms are described in this thread: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18708

There certainly is a clutch issue logged in Puma. I'm trying to find out exactly what that is.

Sounds similar to mine. It would judder in first and reverse, and smell pretty bad at the end of the day. Eventually you could feel it slipping in gear, so got it replaced.

This new clutch is better, but still occasionally judders, usually when backing out of a parking space and then pulling away.

Still feel that I'm having to drive around the problem, which is a shame. If you do find anything out let us know!

It's a piggyback, on the 135i and remap on 120/123

I used to prefer the JB3 or Vishnu for the 135/335.

wonder why superchips have to piggyback it while evolve and p-torque have chosen to remap.

on the clutch judder, i get a clutch judder when the engine is cold pulling away in first, only does it for the first 2 miles or so, heard of a judder when its cold on all 1 series models though. go on babybmw.net and do a search on clutch judder, you will get a mount of posts relating to it.

Because the remap wasn't available when the SSTT came out.

It was a quick (and effective) way onto the market.

It some ways the piggy-back is better, you can easily remove and reinstall before and after taking to the dealership.

I agree, piggyback is the better one. You can easily take it off.
