Do these rotors look ok?
I bought new zimmerman front rotors from FCP euro, along with EBC Green Stuff pads. Installed them about 2k miles ago. I bedded them in at 1k miles and before that was very light on the brakes according to EBC bed in instructions. During bed in I did multiple 60 to 20 hard stops, braking hard enough that ABS almost kicks in. I feel some vibration through the wheel during braking at certain speeds but I had that before and I think it is actually a out of balance wheel or something else. I just want to ensure these look right and the pads arent glazed or anything like that.

FWIW, I swore off EBC pads years ago because of a glazing issue that caused a vibration under braking. I don't see anything wrong with the rotors in the pics, but gauging them is the only way to tell if they're glazed.

You should feel a wheel imbalance at a certain speed while cruising. If you don't feel the vibration until you apply the brakes, it's most likely the brakes.
02Pilot is correct. It's very difficult to see this visually. A thickness variation of thousandths of an inch could cause the shudder under braking. You could get the rotors turned and they'll typically take off 4 thousandths, or .1 mm. |
