$53,082 USD for the 135i (based on euro pricing) ??
I just don't get it. I would think that the Base price (38,950 Euro) from the German BMW site would directly translate to US Dollars, which in this case I did the calcualtions and I got a base price of 53,082 US Dollars. I've come up with some possible explanations for such a high price: 1. I'm a retard and do not know how to convert Euros to Dollars (most likely, lol). 2. Everyone in Euroupe is super rich and can afford an entry-level BMW at this price. 3. BMW is shafting their own people. 4. BMW is taking out the platinum and gold pistons designed by Giorgio Armani for the US Market (this will also explain the 6 hp loss, lol). Any other explanations?

Just compare 335 pricing in euros in Germany to 335 pricing in dollars in the US. Figure out a ratio (less taxes of 19% on the German pricing), and then use that ratio and apply it to the German 135 pricing to get a ballpark of US 135 pricing. It won't be accurate, but it gives you a ballpark I should hope, using this method btw the US pricing would come to $33,576.77. And the Canadian pricing would come to $42,464.74. Both Canadian and US pricing would be the start pricing, (ie the starting price at the beginning of the car configurator, not sure if that includes Freight and PDI) and would be plus taxes.
That being said, the US Dollar has been sliding against the euro and the CDN Dollar has been strengthening. So I would expect the CDN price to be a bit lower especially since foreign auto makers have been taking flak from the Finance Minister here on how Canadian auto prices have not been reflective of the currency valuation. Not to mention there are differences in standard features between the Euro, CDN, and US 335's on which whatever ratio you make up is based on. And likewise there will be differences in the Euro, CDN, and US 135s. So all I'm sayin is based on today's prices and the differences between our currencies, these are theoretical reflections of what they 135 may price in at. |

Perfect Road Runner I fully agree with what you posted. Thats what I did too , I just got a ratio of EU prices to US prices and the magic number I got is around 1.3.
Whatever the Euro value times 1.3 is what we should expect, that too is a ball park figure and is around $33K for the 135i. |

The US Dollar is very weak right now. That along with other reasons, you cannot just convert a European price to US dollars. However, if you look at the price of a 135i in the UK and in Germany as a percentage compared to other models, get around $34-$35K for the price of the 135i. I hope that's the case and it's not more.
