2 Coil packs in one year....36k miles
Isn't that a little odd? I had Cylinder 4 Coil done by an indy, but then I read about the SULEV 15 yr/150k warranty. Called dealership this week 2 times and no SA returns my calls.
So I'm thinking maybe I'll DIY. Should I change the spark plug and coil? The code i'm getting reads Cylinder 2 misfire. I also have had an oil leak, dealer just replaced oil filter gasket housing but said there is a "seep" in the oil pan gasket I believe, I have oil all over the undercarriage piece. What brand coil should I get, Bosch? |

Your coil are getting old and suffering attrition from age as opposed to use cycles. Unless you want to continue replacing them one by one, shell out for the entire lot as others have said and be done with it.
I'm getting close to doing this on my car. Every now and again I can detect a slight misfire that's not persistent enough to throw a CEL. Eventually I'll either replace all the coils or warranty them. |

The Bosch coils on these cars are notorious for going bad. Buy a set of Delphi's and be done with it. I had to replace all of mine at 37k miles. Had one going bad and once I got into the job I saw where someone had already replaced another coil. Been running fine so far, but it only has ~1500 miles since the swap.

What I personally do in such a case...
Swap coil 3 and 4 Erase codes Run the engine If you still have miss fire, check which cylinder. If miss fire on cyl 4, defective coil pack If still cylinder 3, check to push it a bit more, else might be your spark plug. Also, pay attention... I read somewhere that if you have oil or other liquid it might creates miss fire with those coil packs. |
