How does this go back on?

I just finished removing the rad fan and this piece came off near the top of either fan or rad itself. Hoping someone might know how this goes back on.... for the life of me I can't seem to find the proper placement. I searched all over and can only find part pics but no install/placement pics.

I don't know that I put mine back. I'll take a peek while I'm out in my garage next time.

Try putting that part number into Google, add BMW next to it to be sure, and hit the image search. Diagrams pop up. Might help?

how to attach

If it is the part I think it is it just pushes down over the lip in that location. Check you tube and you should find one that shows it.

Bumping this up because I had my fan out today and found this seal loosely sitting on top of the radiator. Found the realoem diagram (below) and it's not super descriptive but the fact that they group this seal with the radiator support and not the radiator or fan made me think that it attaches to the support itself.

#9 in the diagram

Here's how I ended up reattaching it, there is a small lip on the underside of the radiator support forward of the radiator. If you aim the long side down and press it into the lip it clips right in and the long side seals the gap to the front edge of the radiator. The picture is looking forward at the radiator from the airbox location.
