Lightweight Titanauspuffanlagen Motogp safety car splitter fitted pics.

Got about fitting the motogp safety car splitter on Sat.

Very straight forward and lined up well, required 8 x 8mm holes to be drilled to the back underside of the bumper with the sides secured to existing fixings, a small modification required to the small plastic cover that attaches to the bumper and undercarriage cover (minor cutting where 2 screws and nuts are fixed, nothing major).

Takes no time at all to fit, subtle and looks bloody good I must say, so thanks Marc and Lightweight for the fast service and group buy price......

Thanks, there is actually only the one available bar the finish, matt, gloss or the carbon covered that will be available at some stage, I opted for the gloss.

Looks great man. I also installed mine this weekend, but the weather prevented me from getting good pics.

Did you noticed the four inner bolts caused the lip to slight tilt upward to follow the contour of the bumper. Almost like we can use a few washers on the two forward bolts, between the lip and bumper. Mine also had scratches on the gloss finish, but not too visible when installed. Mine came via FedEx and the box had a couple punctures. Luckily, not where the lip was. Shipping was ridiculously fast....like 2 days total from Germany.

Lol, thanks. It's the bridge that gave it away. I was there in 2009 for MINI United (Drove 10 hours from Stuttgart) and crossed that bridge quite a few times in just 4 days... some of them were sober even

The shipping docs didn't show the breakout, but I paid 400 euro total. If this had been UPS, the lip would've been destroyed.

I'm thinking of adding 2-4 nylon washers between the lip and underside of the bumper for the 2 inner most forward bolts. This will prevent the front edge of the lip front pulling up due to the bumper countour. Its not very noticeable, but I'm a little anal.

I thought of wrapping mine in clear bra, but now I'm thinking DI-NOC gloss black or gloss carbon fiber would be a better choice. Perhaps gloss black, so the color/gloss matches more with the gills/grills. Plus, the protection from road debris.

Just when we thought your car can't get any better looking...

Great pics, thx for the write-up. No rubbing around ramps/road imperfections even with in your lowered stance? My stock bumper already has a few battle scars on the stock ride height, so this is really the only thing sombering my mood and desire to get this

Lovely Pics Aussie !
For the Forwarding price, let me explain: Regular FEDEX Price in the most countries outside Germany is about 65,- €. Than we have to pay 17% Diesel acceptance of the 65,- € and 25,-€ for the Customs work/dues - so alltogether roundabout 100,00 €.
If there were small daw marks in the lip: We check every lip, before we send them out. The Marks, if they are there, are outside the visual line of the Car. They get into the Lip, when the Lips were routed at the CNC-Machine, you cannot change that ! Hope more pics of installed Lips get into this Post

Marc, Lightweight

Dynamics

@ OP

Can you comment on any change in driving dynamics? For example in a high-speed sweeper and straights, is there any difference in stability or over/under-steer balance?

And, looks like you have the OEM rear lip still correct?

Oh, and of course the lip looks fantastic!

Not something that is noticeable once fitted to be honest. No scratches present........

Sorry mate, I fitted the splitter and then drive to Silverstone the next day, 30mph at best through the city then motorway doing 80 at most, if it prevented any front end lift that would have been hard to detect as I had ballast in the passenger seat, by that I mean my mate who weight over 100kg lol but nothing negative was detected through the steering....Lightweight has done plenty of high speed autobahn runs and ring laps during testing.

On the boot lid I have the BMW performance carbon spoiler.

Says the man who would fit grip tape so he could in-turn use the splitter as a step later enabling him to reach the bonnet

Mike, be carefull with adding the washers between Lip and bumper. You get so much more pressure on the lip! The Original SafetyCar is also fitted like our Lip - BMW Motorsports knows why, I think

That makes sense, there would then be a gap between splitter and bar which would in effect defeat the purpose of the splitter and put duress on the splitter at speed.
