Oil temp?

Hey guys just picked up my 135 about 5 days ago - I'm going to do the hard break in method this time, not crazy hard though. I've notice the oil temp is running pretty hot. On the first day I got it, it was about 20C outside - did some city driving and highway driving and the temp was 120C. Couple days after was driving in the morning, cool 20C and the engine was running about 115C. I'm worried once I start taking the 135 to the track 150C is going to be nothing and as a result over heat the car. What are you guys (fellow Canadians) getting for oil temp?

I wouldn't worry about it too much. The driver's manual says normal operating temperature is between 100-150 degrees Celsius. I've taken the 135i to Shannonville twice already, running continous 45-60 minute sessions, and the oil temperature stayed at just above 120 degrees. Outside temperature was in the high 20's. At no time did the oil temp ever even get close to 150 degrees.

In fact, I find the 135i takes much longer than my other cars to get to normal operating temperature. For short city trips (under 5-6 km), it stays well below 100 degrees. But I don't really push the car in those situations.

most temp gauges on other cars are based on the coolant temp, not the oil temp. oil takes way longer to reach operating temp.

I haven't noticed any real difference between the oil temps when I driving around town and when I'm pressing hard at the track, so I think they got the oil cooler sized right with the 135i.
