Comfort access with door locking

I don't know anyone have tested their e90 with CA, I had tested 2 times, I first unluck all doors and step away for 5 min, and come back all the door will be locked. if I just unlock 1 door or 2 doors, the automatic door lock will not happen.

there is one time I unlock all the doors, after a minutes, I go to the back passenger door, the door will lock in my front of my face. weird.

during all these time, my Key fob is in my pants pocket.

does anyone had the above CA experience?

In any BMW - comfort access or not - if you unlock all the doors, but do not open/enter the car - the car will automatically relock after a set period of time.

The though behind it is:
If you unlock your car, but don't get in (or open any doors) - maybe you unlocked it by mistake - so the car relocks as a security feature.

I have not tried it yet, but what happens after I simply leave the car unlocked after I park. Will the door locks automatically after some period of time or do I always need to lock them manually?

You need to lock them manually.

That's what I thought. My brothers 2005 Corvette will lock automatically in that situation. Disappointing, but no big deal. Thanks again, Broken1.

It would be nice to have it lock by itself. I can't count how many times I walked into work trying to remember if I locked it or not, then walking back to the car. Sometimes I do forget.CM

If you have I-drive, you can turn that option on and off

In main menu, press the fob down. Then choose "Vehichle Settings", then chose "central locking" (or something related with locks). Then there should have an option that is something like "re-lock if doors are not opened" where you can choose.

And really, there aren't that many things in the i-drive and it is easy to use. I don't understand why so many people can have i-drive but not play around with it.

I wouldn't want my car to think it's smart enough to be able to decide when to lock itself. If my keys are in it and it locks its self, I'd feel like bashing the windows in.

That would be a bug, not a feature IMO.

with comfort access you can't lock the car from the outside with the fob in the car. i tried it and it wouldn't let me when i left my key in the drivers seat. i'll try what u did neworder and let u know what happens.

You just hope you have comfort access when you lock your keys in the trunk by accident. I did that a few weeks ago. Had to go home and get the other key to unlock the car. What a hassle.

You should keep your wallet key...in your wallet?

I always make sure to unlock the car, before I go pottering around in the trunk...so if I do lock them in, I can just jump in the car to open it!

Also, with CA - if you do lock your keys in the boot (trunk) it makes a noise and reopens the trunk

Nope, I don't have something like a "re-lock if doors are not opened" option. I guess this is why after playing around with iDrive I didn't see it.

Also, it's spelled 'iDrive' and not 'i-drive'. I don't understand why so many people can have iDrive but not spell it.

Many people can't bring themselves to accept the horror that is intercaps and how it has wreaked havoc on our once genteel language.

That option can be set by the driver on non-idrive cars as well.
