Did an oil change over the weekend at 111,000 miles, with 6l of 0W-40 Castrol and a bottle of Liqui Moly Ceratec (First time trying this). Only drained out maybe 6l of old oil, although my level indicator was about halfway.

Also replaced spark plugs, looked like all the wells were mostly clean, at least no oil, just a bit of dust crud in each one.

Bonus, found a prybar in the engine bay that the last mechanic that worked on my car must've lost.

Only negative, after I was done with everything took it for a drive to get everything up to temp, experienced the DCT Transmission overheating issue I get intermittently, still annoying.

I'm really curious what you think about that RD conversion unit after you drive it for a bit on the street. Was discussed some about 2 years ago, and there was some talk about the 2 way equal locking being not fun on the street.

I don't have an opinion really, but I am fond of that price...

Trying to plan my 3rd (and hopefully final) exhaust setup.

Started with a muffler delete. Very raw sound, had a hint of V-8 like growl. Minor drone in the upper 2k range.

Moved on to a Vibrant bottle style resonator a couple months ago. FANTASTIC sound (very PE like from what I've heard), but godawful drone in the 2.2k-2.5k range.

Now I'm considering a Vibrant ultra-quite resonator, Borla universal muffler, or a Valvetronic Designs muffler. Front runners are the vibrant ultra-quite res and valvtronic muffler. If the vibrant res should tame the drone, I'd be a happy camper, but I'm hesitant on pulling the trigger. The valvetronic muffler is $600, but apparently it can be wired straight into the stock vacuum harness which is very appealing, not to mention the mild to wild aspect which would be great for my commute. Torn between the two, and I'm tired of playing guess and check.

Anyone have experience with any of these options? Got a couple weeks before WFH is over so hoping to get this figured out before then.

I've been running a Borla ProXS 40359 since November 2018, paired with a set of N55 mid pipes. Primary kittens are in place, as is the one OE resonator.

Great sound. No drone, pretty darn quiet when ya want, just loud enough when ya get on it. The ProXS is the quietest of their flow-thru mufflers, and has a great deep tone.I've got a great tip as well, but have to look up the paperwork to get the details.

My drone comparison- Owned a Berk Street axle back for ~6-8 months, went back to stock because of the drone around 2-2300 RPM. Then went to the Borla and haven't looked back.

How does the volume compare to the Berk Street? I was pretty happy with the MD volume with the rest of my exhaust stock so I was leaning towards one of their louder mufflers, but I don't want to end up with more drone.

Volume of the Borla compared to the Berk Street is very, very similar. With the secondary kittens in place the Borla was a touch quieter, with the N55 mids in place it's the same, possibly ever so slightly louder...

Surprisingly similar to each other!

Do you have a /good/ set of headphones or ear buds? You don't get the deep sounds through crappy laptop or phone speakers... I have a video from when the system was installed and was still on the N54 mids with the secondary kittens.

Track inspection by SimplyFast for June 22nd. Car is 13 yrs old, about 64K miles [not winter driven] and all is good to go. Two minor items for the future. This is the 1st real good suspension inspection check in my 10 yrs of ownership so I'm very pleased to know car is in good shape.

Sorry for the loss, happy the wife is OK. Probably too late now but I would have liked to pull off the "year 1 of the 1" surround.

Good news: clutch stop is in, and damn what a difference it makes. Can't believe I put off the install for this long.

Bad news: went for a spirited drive and now get a metallic clang when I first start pressing the brake pedal and when going over bumps. Sound level is speed dependent, so I'm hoping that its my 112k mile suspension that's being refreshed in a few weeks. Checked the sway bar endlinks and I can twist both front endlinks with two fingers. Time to replace 'em?

Gave 'er the best check up I could without a jack or ramps and it looks like the case is closed boys and girls. We're missing a caliper carrier bolt on the front driver's side. Torque your stuff down kiddos. 13 yr old suspension + 3rd world quality roads will have your bolts spinnin' right out.

Busy week.....

135i cluster installed to gain the Oil Temp gauge 👍. Free of the tamper dot 👍. Done locally if any Albertans are interested.

ProTools helped to achieve digital velocity now correctly displaying across all speeds when GPS compared, analog display is consistently 3 or 4 kilometres per hour high versus GPS....needle might have to get reoriented.

V001 tune flashed & adaptations reset - hunting idle rpm is gone, limp mode seems to have been eliminated relative to torque peaks 👍.

Muffler swapped from 3” to 2.5”. Custom exhaust (headers/3”merge/3”race cat/3” resonator/2.5” muffler) is loud, but NOT annoying.....first autocross on Tuesday night - we’ll see if it blows through the local dB limits 🤷.

Today....

Installed new pads and drilled rotors. Porterfield R4-S pads, Bimmerworld brass caliper bushings and new sliders all around. Deleted brake wear sensors.

Took it for a rip to seat the pads, then a casual drive and then some aggressive slowdowns to get a feel for what they should be like at upcoming autocross events. First impressions are positive, but given that it’s a daily we’ll see how annoyed I get with regular relubricating of the sliders

After all that work I'm looking forward to you're results from the auto-x! I think the 2.5" should give just the bit of back pressure needed for good torque...
