Interesting Dyno Chart
Saw this in the Z4 forum.. someone dynoed his 35is and here's the result:
http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433243 Definitely has me thinking that the 1M coupe dyno that was published recently is conservative. |

Very interesting!
Keep in mind that this chart should be influenced by overboost, which will end up in a peak inevitably (at least I think it does?). If I understand the chart right, the engine produces a short time of 370hp (overboost?) which then falls down again but levels more or less at 340hp until 6'250 rpm and then drops finally to 320 at 6'500 rpm and 300hp at 7'000 rpm. Yes, other turbo charged engines handle that better, but it just means that you should shift at 6'500 rpm and that's similar to other turbo engines again. |

He was going to get a 2nd dyno to compare results... Hopefully soon.
Some ppl have lamented the drop off at higher RPM but you know, when you're going from 371 @4,900 to 300 @7000, it's a stretch to say that the power is falling off a cliff. |

I know the guy from the Z4 3.5is.
This dyno is done by a wellknown "chiptuner" in Belgium and must be pretty representative. My M3 3.2 did 308 HP over there and by another wellknown 303 HP. I think the 371 hp will be 363-365 hp in real; which is fine also! If the 1M can combine this figures with a better throttle response and a bit less power drop off it will be stunning to drive!!! |

The throttle response will only be tweaked, meaning that you will give less throttle and the electronics will give more. I also don't think that they can modify the power drop off electronically. In my understanding (may be wrong) is that the basic characteristic of that specific engine which will not be modified physically by BMW M, as we know today. |

Couldn't the M folks just adjust the wastegate to hold more boost towards the red-line? There should be enough overhead with these turbos to allow that.

Interesting. Looks like ~340rwp other than that spike.
