Ed_330i is right. Only around 30% of the actual energy from the fuel is converted to kinetic energy for the car to move. Diesel is a bit higher, around 40%. This is because they have a much higher compression ratio.

I'd be interested to see some dyno charts. Unlike some here, I have been familiar with Upsolute for at least 4 years. I was always 'just about to' buy a chip for my S60 but never did. They have been around a while. Check out their forums.

Used Upsolute in my Jetta but switched over to GIAC. I wanted something a little more agressive on torque. I'd want to see dyno's too before buying. I'm currently contemplating on a big turbo upgrade on my jetta and would probably go with Upsolute for software ... but like I said still contemplating. The new 2.0T engine sounds so tunable and I would probably just get either the GTI or the A3, althought the A4 and Jetta GLI has come to my mind ... I feel the need for a hatch or wagon since I already have an XI.

BTW .... dyno's would be nice

The programs are currently available now as they were having some problems with the software registering the E90's Siemens MSV70 checksum.

Anyways, the program will be ready for my own car tomorrow, so I will probably try it out this week. And I was told for the 330i, the powergains should be roughly 25bhp which will bring it up to aroudn 280hp, so basically I'm also looking for a 330i to do a before/after dyno which I will include for free. I already have one doing it for the 325i.

Some of the above reminds me of K & N filter hype. <BBG> There are always trade offs in re-mapping. I think I will wait to see what Jim Conforti comes up with.

I would rather see some 1/4 mile slips than dyno results. Dyno results vary too much to get any kind of realistic result. The only way I would be sold would be to have a stock E90 and a remapped E90 race a 1/4 mile. Of course, having the same driver for both cars drive them.

Rather have them on the same dyno. 1/4 mile race pointless due to the large number of variables (ie, missed shifts).

Fact is Chipping your car void's it's warranty and you're not going to get a chance "Swap chips" if you get into trouble.

If results are in deed as described and can be proven by dyno tests and 1/4 mile runs, maybe we can get a group buy set up for everyone on the forum?? Would anyone be interested in doing this?

The real question is how reliable is the car after the CPU swap. It really doesn't matter how much horsepower or mileage if the car will only last 5years instead of 10+ years (depending on how you drive of course).

Whatever happened to Geuss, the threadstarter? I would have definitely thought that by now he would post up some proof of the unbelievable gains he was advertising but i geuss not. Makes me think about the authenticity of the chip.

Guess has not been chipped yet as he has been busy the past few weeks and couldn't fit in our schedule as well. We will have dynos posted up as soon as we have the remap done.

do any of the other dealers (suchas the one in florida) have the programs for tuning the e90. And this will void the warranty and shouldnt be done to a leased car correct?

You will have to contact the dealer in your area to see if they have the correct equipment and adapters, but to my knowledge we are the only one with the adapters for the E90 and there is only a handful of dealers with the programmer able to reprogram the ECU in North America.

Has this been tested yet? Is is now available? Looks like several people are interested in buying one (myself included). Let's see some verification while the topic is HOT!!!

It will be available these few days as there were some errors in the program. Sorry that it has been pushed back for a few weeks. It was when I tried to try it on my own E90 325i, some problems were found, so they are fixing it.

And there is a new software released by BMW, so its best to have your car updated with the latest software before you get remapped as the remap will be based on the software in your ECU.

From my understanding everyone that has a post september production date should have the latest software update. That would also include anyone with comfort access as an option since that was a post sept. option. Can anyone confirm this?
