Recently I went a little nuts and while removing an ///M badge that the previously owner had installed on the back of my 135, and decided to debadge the whole thing...

Except the "135i" is still quite visible. So far I have tried a wash, then Meguiars scratchX, then wax, then hand polish, then polished with a random orbital buffer/polisher, then hand polish again, and I'm not having much luck. Maybe you could point me in the right direction to help this situation. It's making me sad.

I've attached a picture.

That's a badge tan. Same thing happened to my old car when I debadged it. It's just sunshine essentially "tanning" your car.

Could I ask for a assessment of my process and products and maybe some suggestions based off of new products available?

09 135i Cabrio Space Grey. Lemon Leather. Moonlight Black.

My current 2x year method is clay bar, 1Z polish, 1z Glantz. I self wash 2-3 times monthly with meguairs gold class and sometimes details spray to maintain shine. I use all microfiber towels for washing and drying. However, I do not use the 2 bucket method as time usually doesn't permit.

I own a PCDA and have foam pads of several different cuts. I should note that I am not nuts about paint correction. I'm ok with a car having light to mild swirls and etching as long as the shine is strong and water beading occurs.

I've already bought the nano scrub pad and glide and sonax wheel cleaner. The products that seem to be getting press are opticoat, net shield, Adams car wash and the new sonax one step cleaner wax.

On the interior I use Lexol products leather cleaner and protectant and vinylex.

On the roof I use Raggtopp cleaner and protectant and simply hose off during washes.

Just wondering if some of my product tech is old and there are easier ways of getting similar or better results.

Hey Phil, I know you guys used to sell the Sonax All Season Detail Kit, is there anything else around the same price range for an all around cleaning/detail kit.

I believe isopropyl alcohol will remove sealants/waxes.

Thanks. Follow-up question: if I use the Sonax polymer net shield on my wheels, will the Sonax wheel cleaner remove it?

I believe Sonax Full Effect is ph neutral and shouldn't strip any wax.

wheel cleaners in general will take some of the protection off your protected wheels.

scenario 1
just say you just protected the wheels and need to wash it, the sonax more than likely will still be on it.

scenario 2
say you need to clean your wheels and its been 3 months since you protected them, figure more than likely the wheel cleaner will remove probably all of it.

since its not to hard of a task, after you clean your wheels just hit them up again with a detail spray or even sonax PNS its another 10-15 min.

hope that makes sense.

My interior windshield has haze buildup (off-gassing), but when I try to clean it up as part of my normal cleaning, it feels as if there is some sort of 'hard coating' or 'sealant' over it; I get a rough feeling when going over it with my cloth. I dont feel anything if I rub my fingers over the glass, just when I use a cloth. Do you recommend any 'harsher' cleaners? (using just Stoner glass cleaner)

Might have been covered already, but any tips on how to wash or clean your microfiber towels? High pile and low pile any different? Should I not wash them together etc? I currently just use an all natural detergent in the washing machine and then tumble dry without a dryer sheet.

Thanks!

That's pretty much what I do.

I have seen detergents supposedly made for microfiber products, but I think it's a gimmick.
