Production up (?)
Strange thing that... car ordered earlier this year - delivery in January 2012 confirmed. Got a phone call just a few days ago.... she is already there ! Never happend to me before that a car has been delivered so much ahead of schedule. Pops a question... did they up the production in Leipzig?
Anyway, as Winter is right around the corner I leave her at the dealership in their showroom till spring is back. Hard time that will be.... |

Same thing happened to me, originally scheduled for a December build date, actual delivery 10/20. Instead of production being up (higher) maybe they are actually making a smaller total quantity??
Consider it an early Christmas gift...congrats! |

I have read so much nonsense about 1M production constraints and end-of-production from people that claim to know that I no longer know what to believe.
However, today my dealer tells me that I can still have a new 1M in the specification I choose and it will arrive early January. So what exactly is the position I wonder? It is hardly worthwhile for my dealer to lie to me as I have bought three new cars from them in the last six months. I guess I will find out for certain early in the new year. But, for what it is worth I believe that BMW will continue making them for the US market until the end of 2011. Which happens to match the BMW NA production schedules circulating elsewhere. |

At the beginning of September BMW NA sent an official bulletin to the US dealers declaring October as the final month for US 1M production, but there is always the possibility that BMW NA may squeeze in a few orders in November and December for special cases. Good luck and keep the forum posted on whatever the outcome.

Does anyone have a copy of this bulletin declaring October to be the end of US production? The only BMWNA document I have seen posted lists December as the end.
Assuming it arrives this will be my 28th new BMW and 9th M car. |

Ask your dealer for it or call BMW NA. We've put this to rest in September. You may be able to find it using the search.

Because most of the dealers have proven time and time again that they are clueless. If they are sure then they should be able to give you a production number.

I go to the same dealer time after time because they deliver. If they don't I will go somewhere else. For example my F25 X3 (with a distinctly one-off spec) arrived in less than four weeks despite the knowledgeable people on forums proclaiming at the time that it would take 3 or 4 times that long.
And then there were the experts on forums that told me it was impossible to retrofit a US X6 with Individual audio. But surprise, surprise, mine now has it. And how many 959s did Porsche say they were going to restrict the build to? And how many did they actually build? I could go on. We shall see..... As for a production number I am rather more interested in a car. I can't drive a production number. |

emed so at the time. Needless to say I now wish that I had imported it regardless, it had only done 17k km from new in 2007 when I sold it. |

BTW checkout the Audi TT RS review in the December issue of C&D. They stated, "Unfortunately, 1-series M production ceased in October." I wonder who provided them that tidbit of information.
