First N55 Tuned Dynos - Still BETA and only STAGE-1!!

Here are the first tuned dynos for the N55 (Stage-1). BMS has really kicked it into high gear with development so I am very excited to share these with you guys. Its still a ways from being finalized but its more then just progress now as we have some tangible results, even though they are preliminary right now. Just excited with the developments so wanted to keep everybody in the loop about the progress.

Runs were done on 91 and started @ 1500rpm. Notice how long it took to reach peak TQ. Some significant lag on this platform which hopefully will be addressed soon

Enjoy

Mike

Mike, does the Bavarian Technic cable/software work the same as previous model years? Thanks.

This ain't no N54. But BMS will extract as much out of the platform as possible. Stage 1 is just the start!

Yes. I am just not 100% sure it works right now. I think the BT boys need to get a N55 so they can adjust the software as necessary. All BMWs are supported so this one will be as well.

That stock curve isn't all that difference than what you see on an N54 on a chassis dyno if you start that low. The N54 is building to peak a little sooner, but they're both rolling off after 5k RPM.

Community forgive me. I was not knocking the BMS guys and the super work they do, I was merely referencing the stock curve. It has a lot more fluctuation in it than the N54 does. I agree the drop off point is the same between the two, but I was hoping that the torque would be as flat on the N55 as the N54. I have high hopes for this motor since it has the best of everything in it. And of course it is a BMW.....

No hating, nothing of the sort. Was just wondering and I apologize if it came off smart-allecky.....

i think some exhaust work is a must to see some decent power out of this engine.

Great, More false advertising of the N55 from BMW. The list just keeps growing. What's next?

This is tuned, not stock. A tuned car will have a higher peak torque when the higher amount of boost comes in.

Those are the numbers to the wheels...BMW advertises numbers to the crank.

They advertise flat from 1200rpm, To crank or wheel, the data shows otherwise, by a huge margin.

Need to overlay a stock N54 and N55 trace to see the difference in a definite way. There does seem to be a dip around 4000 on the OE run that you dont see on an N54 - I suppose that correlates somehow to the operations of valvetronic?
