N54 (335i) engine swap into e81 or e87 parts and to-do list?

Hello everyone.

I've been wondering if anyone has a complete parts and to-do list for swapping the engine from a 335i into an e81 or e87.

Now before you say "just buy a 135i", plese know that is not an option. Besides the price and rarity of the car, my country has extremly steep yearly tax on cars with engines of a displacement larger then 2.5L, so that is out of the question. Swapping gets me around this issue.

Also, second hand BMWs and parts are pretty cheap where I'm from. For example I can source a complete running N54 engine complete with manual transmission, accesories, DME, EWS and keyfob + complete exhaust for around 4000-4500 euro, and a decent looking 116i/118i 3 door is around 2000-2300e, so the whole project would cost around 6800 euro (in theory, there's always that part that brakes when dissasembling and old parts that need to be replaced witch will drive the cost up). I will be doing all the work myself.

I've done plenty of swaps before, but only on older cars (E30s, E36s, E46s and E34s). Nothing this "modern" tough.

For my 316ti to 325ti swap for example, I needed the following:

- donor M54B25 complete with all accesories and wiring
- 6 cylinder manual transmission and clutch
- complete 6 cylinder exhaust
- 325ti muffler
- driveshaft (shorter on 6 cylinder e46's)
- front anti-roll bar
- DME + EWS + Keyfob
*run wire from AC compressor to the electronics box since the N42 has the AC clutch wire built into the engine wiring harness, while M54 equipped cars have the wire built into the car's wiring harness.

Overall pretty straight foreward and cheap swap.

Would the same apply for the E81/E90? Or would i need anything else?
