135i N55 oil level sensor sh** its pants
Cautionary tale of cheap parts;
Oil level sensor kept telling me that I needed to add a quart, this was twice within a 2000 mile duration. (I've only driven the car 3,500 miles since purchase) •The sensor took ages to give off a reading. •no blue smoke, no odd smells •no puddles/leaks I was running LIqui-Moly 5-40 Molygen but one of my VW buddies suggested that the oil itself was the issue. On his 2.0t Passat, he noticed he went through more oil using that but had luck with Motul. I figured I was suffering from a consumption issue so I got Motul BMW LL-01/5-40 AND a new sensor (sourced from FCP Euro). I pulled out this bobo ass, shitball sensor and drained/measured all the oil. Turns out this sensor was giving me false readings and I had just shy of 2 EXTRA quarts of oil in the crankcase. The very two quarts I'd added at the prompting of that garbage sensor After I guess my point is to stay away from whitebox crap |
