OBD2 codes P1006 and P1017
6sp 128i 55k miles...for reference
Got the Service Engine Soon light the other day. Took it in to get the codes read and P1006 and P1017 came back. Both codes seem to relate to the Valvetronic Eccentric Shaft Sensor. My question is... once I started my car up after the shop pulled out the obd2 reader the engine light turned off. Is it possible he reset the light? Is that even possible with these specific codes? Or are these codes ones that "resolve themselves" ie lose gas cap code, and the light turning off at this time was just a coincidence? I haven't noticed any difference in drivability or performance, before/during/after the whole engine light going on/off. Thanks in advance |

Not sure, I'll check tonight when I get home.
So, considering the light is now off, will the codes get triggered with another obd2 scan? Assuming I can't diy this myself, would a shop be able to re-pull the codes? |

Light came back on, took it to a local shop and they quoted me $850 to replace the valvetronic sensor. The actual sensor online is ~$400.
That price seem reasonable? |
