MODwash Car Wash

They opened one up near me. They have a crap load of locations up and down the East Coast so I ask if you've washed your car there what your experience was like? Seems you have to be a member. They push the "unlimited" package but there's no prices listed. It's frigging cold as a mo fo outside so washing in the driveway is out of the question for now.

Thanks!

I'm not familiar with them, but if it's an automatic tunnel-style wash I wouldn't use it unless you don't care about swirl-marks, etc.

Like any membership, it just depends on how much you'll realistically use it and where the intersection of the membership price and per-wash price is. Like gyms, they depend on most people paying for it but not using it very much.

These automated car washes must be cash cows, as they’re popping up everywhere. It seems commercial real estate investors are getting into them for the passive income stream.

Lol... ok ok. Uncle, UNCLE!! 😆

This is why im asking. I looked more into them and their reviews are somewhat mixed. I was gonna take the Wife's Rubicon thru it for a tester. This thing hardly scratches. Seriously. Maybe jeep has some kind of additive to the clearcoat because it is an off road vehicle after all.

Tough finding a true no-touch car wash around these parts

It’s difficult to find the right one.
Better off just hosing it down with
water if it’s really bad, until you can
find a proper indoor hand wash.
The better detailers that do PPF
and ceramic will offer indoor hand
wash with good technique and products.
Much more expensive than your drive
through car wash.

What I'll sometimes do during the Winter is find a self-wash place, the ones with power washers that you put in some money for 5 minutes of wash time, etc., and just use it to spray down the car. It's obviously not as good as an actual wash, but it's better than nothing if doing a real wash at home isn't in the cards. A ceramic coating will help greatly with this since dirt, etc. doesn't adhere to the car as well as it would without the coating, making the spray-down more effective.

Unless you live somewhere with year-round warm weather or at least get enough warm days here and there to facilitate regular washes, Winter is just going to be a compromise where you do the best that conditions allow.

I found a DIY car wash not too far away but far enough to be a PITA. Will see how that goes.

I can't comment on Modwash specifically but I'm in the automatic carwash industry. I just wanted to throw this out there...the common advice on the internet is "avoid cloth carwashes and go to touchless carwashes only." My response, again in the industry, is "something has to clean your car." People assume touchless is better, but something has to actually clean your car, and if there isn't friction, they're using stronger chemicals to burn the dirt off your car instead. That can be just as bad or worse than a tunnel carwash. A reputable, well run and maintained tunnel carwash will create microscratches (swirls) that your average person doesn't notice or care about, but will get your car cleaner. As opposed to high concentration of chemicals that will make quick work of a ceramic coating, fades rubber, discolors trim, etc.

Just food for thought.

The less you touch it the better! I just keep my glass clean this time of year & don't worry about the paint so much. We're expecting snow overnight, but temps near 60 later in the week!
