BavAuto closed...

They like Turner wasnt far from me, when I lived in Boston I use to go there to pickup parts and they had a good annual meet.

Bavarian Autosport announced on March 8th, 2019 that it has closed its doors and will no longer be conducting business. This ends a highly successful 45-year run as one of the premier BMW parts houses in the world and as a standard bearer for our industry.

In the interest of looking after their customers and carrying on Bavarian Autosport's proud commitment to BMW and Mini enthusiasts, BavAuto reached out to ECS Tuning to see if we could lend a hand.

We at ECS have come up with a plan to help maintain BavAuto's legacy and assist BavAuto's customers during the transition by:

Honoring all BavAuto gift cards through April 30, 2019.
Providing warranty support for Bavarian Autosport branded merchandise
Maintaining BavAuto's longstanding support for BMW CCA chapters across the country
Continuing to stock Bavarian Autosport branded parts on ECS Tuning.com

I used to love getting my Bavauto catalogue back in the day. Ordered lots of parts from them when I had my E36 M3. Sad to see them go.

A stand-up move by ECS Tuning. Makes me glad I buy stuff from them.

What I read somewhere gave me the implication the owners wanted to retire and nobody wanted to buy the whole business as Bavarian. Don't know if that is true or if there was something else.

Will the videos be taken down? How does that work? I heard ECS was going to help honor customer service, etc.

Hopefully not considering ECS customer service is atrocious

Thanks ECS. Can you do anything to ensure that all the great 'Bavarian Otto' maintenance videos are kept on YouTube? Ham-fisted shade tree mechanics like me need all the help we can get!

Thank you and Peace... Mack

Seems like the employees had no clue, I am surprised the employees were not given a chance to buy the company.

Unless they had talks to sell the company and ECS made a deal for them to shutdown, buy all the inventory, and then the few other additional things (GC, etc).

Really ? I just ordered parts from them on Sunday. Got them today, Tuesday and I'm in Canada. Every step of the process was flawless and simple. Not sure how they could make it any better.

Yeah I mean they have to get a majority of stuff correct to be in business, right? Buy if they're 95% onna million orders, that's still a ton of people that got screwed. After numerous issues with my orders I swore them off. That's when I found Jalopnik writing about how bad it's gotten there
(https://jalopnik.com/spying-on-emplo...g-a-1827474482)

Just sad to see good legitimate businesses getting swallowed up by this shitty run machine

Not sure if ECS Tuning actually ran BavAuto out of business but it continues a trend. Buying Turner, Pelican, and now this? Seems they are running their competition out of business. I for one will never buy from them again, gotta support the little guys and try to keep competition alive.

wow... that Jalopnik article. I had no idea. Now I feel sad for Turner. Watching them race will not be the same.

Most of my E30 parts buys were through Pelican, due to their how-to stuff, forum, and west coast proximity. Recent communications were good. Only "bad" part I got from ECS was a scratch-n-dent item for half off. Poorly packed but I figured "I bet that's why it was a scratch-n-dent"

I see Amazon becoming more tuned into this market, they already have a presence, but the search engine is not there yet...but will be my guess....

Shame to see a a good parts company go out of business.

One thing is for sure, Amazon will not be getting any of my business.

Horrible news, I've been using these guys since the early 90s. Bought lots of parts for my old 2002, then later I bought lots of parts for my Mini and now my 135i. I live in Boston so it was great to be able to drive up there.
