Alcantara shift boot DCT cars

ALL DONE!

Big thanks to JPM Coachworks for dealing with me on this project. They got in done in about 2 days of receiving it.
The boot is alcantara and so is the back of the shift knob. Just like factory. I also had them do the little faceplate cover. They matched the alcantara with the same one that BMW uses and the same color stitching. Overall A+!!!

Also thanks to Motivemods for helping figure out to disassemble this thing.

PICTURES OF COMPLETED BOOT
Thanks to JPM Coachworks

I've wanted to do the same for 2 years. After taking about the center console to replace the trim, it looks as if the boot is permanently fastened to the DCT selector. It's easy to pop off the silver plastic trim surrounding the boot, and then the boot ring unclips from that. Then you're left with the boot and boot ring attached to the selector.

I'd love to see someone do it and tell me how it's done...

Okay so there is no way of removing the boot from the selector? Im going to look at a parts diagram and ill let you know if they come together. Maybe a slight, or large tug would do the trick

I asked around the BMW Welt 4.0 meet. No one had ever seen it replaced, and some of them have seen a LOT of cool BMW mods...

In these shots it looks like they just pulled the boot up around the shifter. The one pic looks pretty heinous IMHO. Good find though. Maybe something will come of it.

Had a good talk with the guys from MotiveMods, they say it's doable. I'll be ordering a shifter from bmw soon and modding that one. It's 200 bucks. I'll let you know how it goes

I'll be removing the boot, hopefully sending it somewhere to get it replicated. Anyone have any good ideas where to send the factory leather boot?

But I'll engrave it "GMAN36" so you know who finally did it!!!! Lololololol
