The "exclusive" pain option for say a M3 is $5K! The frozen grey M3 I saw at 'Ring had a 5K euro price tag!!! I think anything is possible given you throw enough cash at it. or at BMW. lol

Dackel

PS: I have no idea IF BMW will offer any "extra" color options for the 1M. Does anyone else know anything?

You can ask Individual directly by calling them.

Yes, you can do that.

No, this died on the vine for this 1M due to cost and time constraints, but is likely to be implemented on the next-gen 1M (or M2).

Scott was really way off the mark on this one. Not everything he predicts and posts here is going to come true.

I think it's incorrect to say Scott is way off the mark here. I am sure it was correct as it was published. Just like some changes from the artist didn't make it to the car due to aero, these stuff didn't make it due to budget.

Very odd to say something is not correct when it is.

Statements that Scott made when he thought something was going to happen because of what ever was being told to him at the time didn't come about. Like these.

  • M-stripes may be placed on left, central, or right hand side of car. Additional stripes can be incorporated along the side of the car.
  • 18" competition wheels in two finishes
  • BMW shadowline chrome can be extended to the front kidney grills and rear exhaust ports (titanium effect finish will be an option).
  • Matte paint options : Frozen Gray, Frozen Black, Ice White.
  • Techno Violet option (including all additional colors from other M-vehicles)

  • Seats available in full and half-leather using M tri-color pattern on center of seats (like E30 / M3 Evo).

  • Carbon fiber dashboard panels / Aluminum panel options.
  • Titanium and body color matched pieces extending to the door handles and gear shift surround trim.
  • Alacantra seat fabric and roof headliner.

None of these are available but were said to coming. Obviously he thought so at the time. But it didn't happen. For whatever reason. Is it correct to say he was off base, missed the boat, was off the mark, was wrong, mistaken, and didn't predict accurately,

Or think its incorrect to say this.

Or, BMW approves exactly what SCOTT describes, then decides later to change their minds.

Happens all the time.

Yet, as a ex-marketing man myself, the distinct bitter flavor of overpromising, and then underdelivering, lingers.....

You can go back in various threads and spot the exact moment the "we had so little time and money for this project"-argument first raised it's head...

Followed later on by:

"But wait, the next M1/M2, now THAT will be something special...."

True, but the execs had to be convinced to give this project a budget, much like the Lexus IS-F project---which was not a fully funded effort and basically was a skunkworks operation.

What Scott26 had said was basically what they had planned, then they found out that that carbon roof, and carbon that, and all the personalization would spiral the budget out of control. And possibly why there is a limited number as well. Of course the next gen 1M or M2, or whatever it will be called, will be a fully funded effort...
Scott gave what he had, and did his job of hyping the car up...and as your handle is "Future M1 Owner" (which should be changed to 1M, BTW), Scott did his job...

Fair enough, but why give us information that isn't actually approved in the first place? Sounds like it was an idea that just never went ahead. I'm all for inside info, as long as it is close to reality. This was clearly not.

Like when he said the BMW execs said there wasn't enough power? What happened to that? Only a small increase from the 135i is far from that too.

I'm not knocking Scott, my point is just that everything he says is not guaranteed.

I was finally turning around and thought BMW is doing something absolutely terrific on the 1M after kind of weird, amateurish marketing campaign on it then I realized this has been cancelled. What a bummer. Seriously. I am officially out. Going to save my pennies to buy a GT-R. Someone on the NAOGTR forum was liquidating his for 50 and someone else sold his with 30k for 54k.

Maybe BMW can exhume the shelved 1M cosmetic personalization program from its dungeons for the M2 ?
