Tire advise needed!

Alright so getting more into Autocross/driving events and bought a new set of wheels. Apex group buy 17x9 +42 arc 8.

This is not my daily. 2008 bmw 135i, stage 2.

I have some driving experince ( a couple autocrosses and a driver clinic). But have been advised from going full race before having more experience.

Looking to run a square set up 255/40/R17.

Was originally going to buy PS4s but they only come in 245/40/R17. Think these will fit the bill?

One of the things I like about The car is it’s playful. I don’t want to have too much grip and it not be as “exciting”.

Or do I just step up into a more dedicated tire. If so open to suggestions!

Thank you in advanced!

Thanks for participating in the group buy!

We actually recommend the 245/40-17s for this chassis when running the 17x9 ET42.

With most 245s, you will need spacers and negative camber in the front and rolled fenders + negative camber in the rear to achieve a rub-free fitment.

You can run 255/40-17s, but this requires more negative camber on all 4 corners. 245s should be plenty, especially if you are trying to keep the car playful.

Thanks
-Tom

I agree, I run 245/40-17 RE71's on the 17x9 et42 ARC-8 with a 5mm spacer in the front and it's mint.

Thanks for the input, went with the PS4s in 245/40-17, so far so good. They don't look stretched either which is a huge relief! Just got alignment done and now ready to enjoy.

You got any pics of this fit? That seems really aggressive up front. Im guessing you had to do a bit of fender work or trimming?

Excellent! Glad to hear this fitment is working well for you! If you have any images of this fitment, would you be willing to send them to us at support@apexraceparts.com? The 17x9 ET42 is a pretty rare fitment for us so I'd like to get some pictures for future customers interested in this fitment.

Thanks
-Tom

It's aggressive but not crazy, 255 would work. No fender work needed. I don't have any pictures handy.
