You gotta love those nice and shiny things! Kind of an unassuming setup isn’t it? Perfect for the road, awesome for the track. Hence,it’s worthy name!

Are the rear Swifts 672 lb/in? And what kind of 17in wheels are those? I’m assuming you run 225/45s?

Any photos of this setup? Thanks for the excellent review.

I know right? I first thought I'd want it lower but it handles so much better I just left it. In my case it was just a bit lower than stock. This kit is about the handling not the look.

They're 160N/mm or about 900lbs/in. It's a very unassuming package. Driver mod probably plays a part in this, but I gained at least an entire football field on a new ZL1 Camaro after a corner coming off a straightaway (obviously, 650hp wins there). After a few laps of eating bumper, I got the point-by.

225/45-17's, they're cheap-o Sport Edition SE-16's I got from Tire Rack on clearance. 17x7.5 ET40.

The camber gain is more favorable at a stock ride height, even though static camber decreases. So when you really lean into it, you just get that little bit of extra grip. Mine's a little lower than stock was for my car, but it's probably equivalent to M-Sport suspension height. I really like how usable and abusable it is now.

All suspension components are in (Performance suspension, subframe bushings, M3 front arms). Just waiting on an alignment. Also went by the shop today to drop off the 135i Performance exhaust. Hoping to have the car completely done by tomorrow.

Got a free N54 longblock
Not sure what I'll do with it yet. Just seen free and was like yes, I need this.
Guess it had a rod knock and owner choose to jy swap it.
No clue on how bad knock or damages yet.

Suspension and exhaust are all installed. Took the car out for a shakedown this morning in the canyons. As a reminder I got M3 front arms, BMW Performance Suspension, M3 rear subframe bushings, and 135i Performance Exhaust.

Initial impressions: The ride of the car is greatly improved. Most of the float, bouncing, and crashing that happened with the stock M Sport suspension is gone. Its definitely stiffer than the previous set up, but in a good way. The Performance Suspension is stiffer and the car corners much flatter, but it still allows a little body roll, which honestly I kind of like. The M3 rear bushings completely got rid of the rear end wiggle and bounce. I think the better ride of the car is mostly tied to those. The M3 front arms definitely give the car better turn in and more precise and direct response when you turn the wheel.

One thing I noticed however is that the car still seems to lack steering feel and heft. I had hoped that the M3 arms would address that, but the on center feel still lacks a bit, and the steering effort still feels somewhat light. Need to look into what I can do to improve that. My next step is to put a set of 7.5 wheels on the front and square up with 225/45/17 Michelin Pilot sports and I'm hoping that will help. I'm currently still on the staggered setup with Continental DWS tires. Beyond that if anyone has any tips to improve steering feel, let me know.

Oh and the exhaust. Its a 135i PE that was cut and then welded on. Its honestly pretty tame, but does bring some more sound than stock. Wind noise seems to drown it out fairly quickly, but there doesn't appear to be any drone. I haven't really gotten it to pop or burble much, but I'll update after its been through more heat cycles.

Re the light steering, what toe specs did you end up with?

That’s a good question, lol. This is my first time doing any mods so I didn’t get a copy of the alignment specs. I’ll have to reach out to the shop and find out.

I assume that can potentially impact the steering feel?

I think if you are at zero or close to it - yes. Especially if you had more toe beforehand and got accustomed to the feel.

Interestingly the lightness/feel is about the same as it was before I put the M3 arms in. I had hoped they would improve it.

Hmm. Maybe you had little to no toe all along. If I recall correctly, when I put on M arms the steering weight didn't change much but I have no idea of what toe spec I had before the installation. The before specs at the shop are useless b/c toe gets so out of whack with the M arms. That's why driving to alignment is so difficult.

Find you specs and post them up here. Someone will have some ideas.

The pedals make a huge difference don't they? I didn't do the dead pedal as my car isn't an "M"....so I'm still looking for a suitable replacement.

Caster is also a big thing for on center weight and "feel" More caster is more "feel" and centering.

The further you tilt the line that the wheels pivot around aft the harder the wheels will push back. If it is vertical then no push back....if you could tilt back horizontal a huge amount of self centering.

Also affect how the car changes the cross weighting to the opposite rear wheel.

When I was racing karts it was a big factor in chassis tuning since you didn't have much else to "tune".

Oh.
Is caster adjustable by itself on our cars or is it a consequence of toe and camber (if one has the strut mount pins removed)?
