27,000 miles what maintenance do I need?
So I recently hit 27k miles on my 2008 128i and I am wondering what maintenance should be performed at this point? I purchased the car with 19k miles and have since changed the oil once, that's it. I apologize in advance for the newbie question, but any help would be appreciated!

Maintenance on new-to-you 128i
First: there is the time lapse since new. You need to replace the following, or have serviced to
1) drain oil and replace filter. Oil available in 1-gallon container Castrol Edge 0w-40 full synthetic widely used on this forum. Get two containers, need 7 qts net 2) Non-phosphate anti-freeze BMW spec 'Blue', at Amazon 3) intake 'cabin-air' filter, @Amazon. Install in the housing spanning between wiper arms at the firewall in engine bay 4) Red Line ATF in the 6-speed manual gearbox. Yes, you read that right...@Amazon 5) battery is near end of its' design life, if it hasn't already been replaced. Explore the forum for verification of these suggestions. I performed these within the last 45 days on my 09 128i at 48k, 6mt That will get you started. Suggestion: a low-profile aluminum trolley jack at HF and some tools if you're new to servicing a special car. |

Good to have a place to start! Just want this thing to run smooth for as long as possible. Hopefully any big ticket items will all just be preventative maintenance things. I appreciate the help! |

Here is the maint schedule I plan to follow on my 135i. YMMV research & follow what you can afford. Maintenance cost less than repair work. Oil is cheap, motors are expensive.
BMW Maint. Sched. Oil change: 6k mi. w/ Castrol 0w-40 or 5w-40 (Chose your brand as long as it's "LL-01" euro formula) Air filter: 2 yrs or 24k mi. Brake fluid: 2 yrs or 24k mi. Coolant flush: 2 yrs or 24k mi. Cabin air filter: 3 yrs or 45k mi. Spark plugs: for 135i 45k mi. w/ PPK or n54, 60k mi. If n55 or 138i Trans. flush/fill: 50k mi. (DCT, don't know for MT? Differential: 3 yrs or 50k mi. Water pump, tstat, rad. cap: 4 yrs or 55-65k Power steering fluid: 60k mi. Fuel filter: 60k (?) Belts/hoses: as needed or 100k mi. (Or likely sooner if OFHG causes the squeaky belt prob.)

My standard answer is to google "Mike Miller's Maintenance Schedule". Somewhere around 30 pages, lots of good info., from a guy with considerable experience.
