Chris, nice work and write up. inspired. I too just picked up a 128i under a year ago. base model, only option was M sport. it is manual trans, manual seats, no sunroof, no nav, no leather. Like what you have done here. I have gathered a lot of parts since I got the ride, just no time to install, but with the cooler climate coming (I am above the 49th parallel) we get things rolling hopefully.

Evan nice to see your into he NA 1 series as well.

Thanks!

It sounds like a nicely-specked car! I'm kinda jealous of slick-top cars, tbh...

I'm really looking forward to this cooler weather moving through, I've got to change my diff and trans fluid which I've been putting-off for too long (been too busy). There's also a 180k mile oil change coming up...

Interesting... where can I find more info about this? Or can you share your new settings?

That's the thread I got my settings from. I can get my current settings, but it'll be a few days before I have the opportunity to do so.

The 1M oversteer coefficient was the most notable change (especially in the rain), the car is a little drift machine now, and gets sideways at the first thought of throttle input. But, it's a controllable slide, and the computer is still there (unlike with everything off) to nudge you back into line if it gets too crazy.

https://bmw135iblog.wordpress.com/20...track-nannies/

That has to be the quintessential blog posting for nanny coding in these cars. All those things make for a more consistent, natural feel (the computers aren't augmenting anything, or masking issues) to the car, that's really enjoyable on the track. It's the same as the X1 one that everyone else references, but he modified it with 135i features (instead of the X1 and 335xi features). http://www.onelapx1.com/blog/how-to-...w-actually-fun

You mean oversteer? If you coded understeer, then please be careful and don't Audi it into a tree... (I think that's how it works)

The "dummy" name for the values is understeer friction something.

Untersteuerschwelle? That (if I remember my German) is understeer.

There should be one for uebersteuern (oversteer) with mue_0 or mue_1_2 behind it, that's the change I made.

EDITED

UEBERSTEUERN_MUE_0 // Understeer Friction Coefficient 0

You are correct.

We should modify the translations file for NCSDummy! thanks!

No problem, I don't want the 1'er to be a meme, unless it is for mad (rear end) skids

Hi, Chris. I'm not totally clear which coding mod is the 1M oversteer coefficient. Also, is this something only to be done if we have an LSD? Thanks!

Take a look at the first link I posted above (post no. 127 or so), it's a whole thread related to coding these things.

Man, can you post your TRC file?
I changed a bunch of stuff two times and did not feel much difference, DTC is still very restrictive.

Thanks. I read through all those links, but I’m not exactly sure which thing you’re talking about, in terms of 1M settings. Is it CBC?

It's called coding, you need a Windows laptop with NCS Expert to modify settings in the modules, with an OBD2 to USB cable.

And you should be coding the DSC module.

Sorry, I must not be clear. I understand what coding is. I'm just wondering which coding change Chris is referring to when he says "The 1M oversteer coefficient." Is it the CBC setting?

Oh ok.

The settings are on page 5 of the first link he posted above (in a post of 3 links).

But I'd still like to see his trc file because it didn't change much for me...

I didn't realize he changed all of those settings. When I read the following, it sounded like one setting in particular works well, so I was trying to figure out which specific setting that is.

"The 1M oversteer coefficient was the most notable change (especially in the rain), the car is a little drift machine now, and gets sideways at the first thought of throttle input. You can change all those but they're not all for the DTC becoming more permissive. I didn't do all because I like diff-lock and other things.

But we discussed the changes in posts above this one after the links:
