Help I'm getting chased by the cops

Ok not really BUT everytime I drive my 1er it sounds like I am.

E88 2008 135i.
Stock except for stage 1 MHD and K&N panel filter.

On gentle acceleration it sounds like police sirens.
When I floor it, engine and exhaust noise take over.

I can't tell whether it might be:
Vacuum or boost leak
Whirring belts of some sort
Transmission (6 speed auto)
Turbo spool?

It really does sound like distant sirens.


Any ideas?

Hard to record the sound as it's very faint. I have the radio and fan off.

Sound seems to oscillate relative to throttle/rpm (hence siren sound)

Do you have intakes? If your car sounds like the intakes on a focus RS it's normal. My friends intake is extremely loud and sounds trippy. Intakes/Air filters make the car sounds even better.

Nope no intakes done... Chair leg plug bov mod done though.
