Another picture found on this forum confirms that (disregard the circle around the latch but note the position/orientation of the rubber bumpers.)
Yep, that's where you show it is as well. Thanks, man.

Ok guys, I went back for another look-see... years ago while cleaning the underside of my hood with a micro fiber towel, I knocked off the driver side rubber grommet. I ordered a new one from my dealer and threw it on the car never thinking again about it until this thread! lol Anyways... the left(passenger) side one is original and untouched. It is mounted just as my driver side one. So Esteban it looks like they came that way from the factory one my car at least. I would be curious as to how the grommets are orientated - on your cars.

Here are some more pics from tonight(it was dark outside, in my garage)...

Btw... I remember when I knocked off the grommet with my MF while detailing the hood edge, many years ago... when I went to order the grommet, BMW p/n 51238247699 - that my dealer made me order TEN of them... bc over here while BMW parts are much cheaper than in the USA.... BMW makes the dealer order a minimum of ten units. Like when order bolts or fasteners... you always have to order ten. Sometimes a dealer will keep the other nine parts... IF they are nice and only charge you for the ONE iten. Most however just make you take all ten. I don't recall these grommets being that expensive... maybe two or three euros for a bag of ten of them. I bet though that in the USA each one is one or two dollars.

That's a lot of pics, Dackelone. lol

I don't know how mine were originally positioned. I found one under my hood resting on something in the engine bay years ago and the other one was missing. I got another one from my dealer way back then and just placed them the way that looked the best to me.

Thanks for the photos Dackel! I noticed that on yours the bumper has the thinner section towards the outside of the hood. Is this the correct position? Mine has that section towards the engine bay.

It appears the we have some confusion as to how these little buggers get installed.

My replacements just arrived and I installed them with the thin section on the outside. Mainly because I think it looks better!

I will advise if I notice any improvement in performance.
