Agree with you on the S2000, since that is what I just got out of myself. Already had a 3 series manual about 10 years ago. We have recently moved and have a lot more traffic now. I've also driven a manual for about the last 20 years or so, and was just ready for a change. No doubt the DCT is quicker, and it's still fun. However, it is not as engaging to drive as the manual.

My bother has a Subaru Crosstrek with the CVT ($1000 option). We can use that for the donor. Sure, it sounds like a Kitchenaid mixer stirring up hamster pancake batter, but just think no DCT lag and no leg cramps from being in 405 traffic at 5pm. Oh and it does have paddle shifters for those who want to hit them and wait 20 seconds for the engine to max rev.

Oooo I'll play.

CVT? Still too much work. Why don't u DCT pussies get the google car. You won't have to do anything cuz changing gears and steering is too hard, plus you'll have lots of time to powder your labias.

For a much more direct gear change that is just a flick of the wrist, the Caterham 6-speed with a racing clutch (about 25mm of pedal movement) and very close ratios is even better, impossible to resist just doing gear changes for pure fun, especially with a nice backfire during heel-toe downshifts:

Don't blame me, I wasn't the one that resorted to name calling. I was just expressing the feeling of joy I experienced on my journey a few days ago.

Even though I have a 6mt, I'm kind of jealous of my dad's DCT

I'm removing my dead pedal and putting in a fake clutch pedal to amuse myself. Of course I'll have an M logo on it too.

I've heard it said that with a manual transmission on a turbo engine you lose boost when you engage the clutch, so for cars with turbo engines, the DCT superior.

I was once told to stop drinking the manual cool aid. I made this in response.

Man I hate progress.

Some days I love the DCT (jury is still out in traffic) and other days I want a manual. I miss the feeling of a perfect heal/toe and manually blipping the throttle rev matching.

Yesterday my outbound trip to Louisville was great. No issues in cooler mornings. Coming home I got stuck in three traffic jams and getting the DCT to move when I pressed on the go pedal reminds me that the car forgets where it left off. Lag and then a burst of go. It's not turbo lag. It's just that fly by wire throttle tip in.

DCT is good for most people I'd say. Let's hope these things last.

Not to inject any further hate into this debate. I drive a 6-speed and chose it over the DCT becuase of the nightmare lag/reliability stories I read on this forum. I love to heel and toe as much as possible however when the day comes that the DCT proves its worth from a reliability and usability standpoint I will probably make the switch and remember the good times with the 6-speed.

My DCT lag is completely gone after the software update. It is a joy to drive when there's no lag.

How long has it been since install? Mines been in several months and every now and then it seems to want to revert back to its old self. Today the car just seemed like a pig, even running Shell 93 octane in it for several weeks now (different Shell stations too).

It has been a couple weeks now and I haven't noticed any set backs. It's smooth consistently(so far). It pains me to admit that the exhaust is much quieter now and I even have the Corsa Exhaust on. PPK is the next thing on my mind.
