I have to say I miss a manual, however I love my DCT. The only thing I have to complain of is tonight was the first time I brought my car to redline in manual and sport and it shifted to 2nd then 3rd for me by itself. I know the car is "saving" itself by not bouncing off of redline, but I would still like to know that it would if I wanted it to.

Get it you will not regret it! Besides providing more power, PPK provides all kinds of popping and crackling on overrun. I have PE so not sure how it will sound with Corsa but can't imagine you will not get all that wonderful noise. I had PE first and didn't get the popping and crackling till after I got PPK. Save yourself some money and get PPK1. PPK2 cost more because it comes with cooling hardware which you will not need unless you track your car.

You must mean me, right? To tell you the truth, I don't remember and I don't know where the invoice is. That was back in 2011. I think it's cheaper now and you can probably talk 'em down a little. I always try, anyway. Usually they're willing.

I paid $720 + $150 for install. Local dealer had a June discount.

This is by far one of the funniest comments I have ever read on this forum.

Thanks for the laughs!

It make sense that you would lose boost. It makes sense because the rpm's also drop when you engage the clutch, no matter how fast you shift. It has been proven more than once that 0 to 60 times are faster with a DCT compared to a manual. Boost is where the power comes from so maybe that also has something to do with why the DCT is faster.

Lease is ending in fall on my 128 manual and Im looking at possible other options. one dealer had two 135i DCT with 4-6k off new price. I test drove, and while the engine power is smooth and strong, overall the drive was bleh, soft, tame, uninspiring. I swear I would mash petal to the floor and be able to fully count to 2 before the engine did anything. One time, the engine actually reved way up to 5-6 rpms AFTER I took foot off accelerator! My manual is quick, responsive and instantly on tap. Them having DCT and not manual was the deciding factor that made me pass on those otherwise excellent cars.

To each his own, but not for me.

Try a 135i and DCT with PPK installed or a 135is and DCT. 0 to 60 in about 4.5 seconds. A 128i with or without a manual? Not even close!

Did you ever take it out of automatic mode? Either that or it was a rebadged 128. Put it in sport mode and press the sport button. You'll be surprised how much it picks up.

Or.....

Try a 6MT N54 with JB4. Smoke the 135is with ease, and a fat pile of cash cheaper to put into other mods if you want.

This is true but I don't want! Only BMW OEM products for my baby. I want my car to LAST for a long, long time.

Those OEM BMW HPFP, vanos bolts, water pumps were great too weren't they??

I'll take an aftermarket tune such as JB4 or Cobb over the PPK any day. Cheaper and more power.

Yeah, but all those parts you mentioned are replaced for free and you go ahead and take whatever tune you want. BMW knows how much horsepower is safe for their cars and that's good enough for me.

All I was trying to say was just because it OEM doesn't mean its the best quality or reliability. There are many cases where aftermarket parts are cheaper, more reliable and work better. Although that's not always the case, there are plenty of parts that are very well documented to work better than OEM.

I agree with you to a certain extent but I don't think aftermarkets tunes are one of them. Also, I have a warranty and possible extended warranty to deal with.

Well being in warranty I would say stay OEM so its covered. That makes sense.
