I use http://www.eagleone.com/pages/produc...=1006&cat=5006 and have pretty good results. I have not used it on a 1M exhaust though but can't think of any reason you couldn't. The tips on my 2002 M Coupe had a very similar looking finish.

I use Meguirs NXT metal polish and ultra fine wire wool. Apply the polish after washing and drying the pipes. Leave for 10 mins and then buff with the wire wool. You'll get an amazing finish
This is the wire wool I use: |

Install a cutout/dump in the exhaust, should solve the problem.

I just make it a practice to wipe them with a soft cloth every time I'm done driving the car. It may be a PITA but my tips always shine.

I usually use "lacknafta", which according to google translate is "mineral spirits" in english... Works like a charm, removes tarmac aswell.

If you have access to Sonax products, grab yourself a tube of their chrome and alupaste. I have used it with great results.
It's durable, removes contaminants and tends to help coat the metal to prevent dirt/exhaust build up. http://www.sonax.com/Car-Care/Produc...hrome-alupaste As Aussie_in_London says, an application of CG Jetseal works a treat for that added base layer of protection. |

Used the brasso on the heavily sooty bits especially and hopefully the megs will protect a little more! |
