Could it keep going?
With nobody on the roads because of the covid-19 I headed to Mexico for a top speed run in my 135i stage2+ upgrade turbos FBO. Car makes around 450whp. My radar said I hit around 165 but I let off. Not knowing the rest of the RPMs that I had. My friend took this photo.

I'd guess you were about topped out. We don't have the most aerodynamic cars and at that point it's what you're facing. If the RPM's didn't feel like they were climbing very fast if at all, then you were indeed done.
Stating the obvious be sure anyone with you knows that there's a small but legit chance of actually dying at that speed if anything were to happen. Just to be sure they are aware. Slightly less obvious but check your tires out, make sure they are rated for that kind of speed and the pressures are good. I'm not trying to nanny you or scold you just saying that when you're doing top speed runs with what I assume is a daily driver, definitely put a little extra caution in it. Things can get real. |

To too have driven down to a close road course in Mexico with professional drivers. When I slapped at the top of the speedo it was still pulling. I'm sure you could have gone quite a bit faster.
