Red brake calipers of M3 Track Edition: available ?
The M3 Track Edition (special edition of only 10 cars, exclusively available in The Netherlands since last April) features red brake calipers and matte black competition wheels.
As we know, the 1M has exactly the same brakes and wheels, except for the colour. I was wondering whether we can get our hands on those red brake calipers for retrofitting on the 1M. Official ///M parts, so got to have a part number. Would also be nice if BMW develops an ///M Performance exhaust for the 1M, similar to the one featuring on the M3 Track Edition. M3 Track Edition: |

You could just paint your calipers. Much cheaper. There is special, heat resistant paint. A friend of mine had the calipers on his 335i painted. Same thing for the wheels, you could have those painted or coated.

The M3 I rented at the Welt also had those red brake calipers. It also had the red stitching on the seats and on the CF dash/dor trim. It was also a frozen grey color.
I rented a M3 for a day @Welt… http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...rented+M3+Welt |

Not sure how good (or bad) red would contrast with my VO car. I think this is an upgrade for the AW and BSM guys...I love my black calipers!

you could always paint them, but i think the days of painting calipers are kind of a fart in the wind. once i see ford fiesta's a geo metros sporting painted calipers, i was done with it. strictly opinion, but the calipers are already painted (i like an understated black) and that allows me to clean them easier. painted calipers mean that you need to clean them more (unless they're black). wouldn't pay for a brake kit unless it really offered more, in the form of a big break kit, allowed for larger rotors, had more pressure points etc. just don't see the need in throwing $ at bling with no bang. just my .02...not hating at all.

"[QUOTE=Artemis;10649073]Belgian forum member dave72 did a cool DIY job:

No offense really, but "perfect fit" is subjective. I can see wrinkle(s) on the second pic. I'm not bashing, excellent effort and saved a few bucks. I'm wondering about the OEM stuff - anyone?

You got to find the part# of the brake calipers of the M3 GTS, because those are the ones fit on the 1M MotoGP. It's a fixed-caliper construction comprising six pistons per caliper on each of the front wheels and four pistons per caliper on each rear wheel. Different breed than the regular M3 brakes on regular M3s and regular 1Ms.
