Shut this thread down immediately. Lock it. Stop it. Thou shalt not say bad things about M3 owners.

Too funny. I know you were joking, but to others viewing/positng on the thread, let's not turn this into a 1M versus M3 thread. That's happened to much in other threads.

They're both great cars from a great car company.

Heh ... this is the first video review by a US mag that I actually watched to the end.

What a contrast to the droning 'antique road show' style of Motorweek.

+1, to say the M3 is a bad car is pretty stupid, considering the parts off our cars come from the M3...

The part about the auto transmission is his opinion.

Opinions are neither right or wrong, I personally prefer the state of art DCT used in most touring race cars not the pre war stick my grandfather used.

The DCT allows me to concentrate on the skill of driving not think about gear changes.

Perhaps, statements that were meant to be funny shouldn't be taken as fact... Just a suggestion...

Shifting in and of itself is a driving skill that has sadly been disappearing in modern day racing. In the old days, you could lose a race/championship or blow an engine if you missed a shift (which we rarely see nowadays with all the semi-automatics). People lacking shifting skills can now win races/championships because they have the machines do it for them. You can call it progress, but if that’s the direction we’re going, we might as well build cars that drive by themselves.

I remember when I went to a Formula Renault racing school long, long time ago (when it was still the H-pattern manual gearbox), the comment made by the slowest guy (who couldn’t really drive a stick) in our group was “why can’t these cars be automatic?” He thought he was a hotshot but unfortunately had to find out the hard way.

Also, F1 cars sounded much better in the old days with the manual gearboxes, which is something I miss dearly.

Glad I wasn't the only one who liked the t-shirt, lol.

The acting was corny, but instead of trying to act and ending up being corny, they were trying to be corny, and ended up being funny. I enjoyed it.

What I learned from this video:

- I want that shirt
- I want that car
- I want a skid pad to have some fun with said car

Fantastic review. That's right up there with a TopGear UK review, impressive. Much more entertaining and informative than the 335is video from Motorweek which I almost fell asleep watching.

You mean to say the skill of steering.. I consider driving to include rev matching, shifting, hand-eye coordination, and all those other wonderful things. All in good respect here, I just had to call this out.

P.S. Good video and review, different strokes for different folks on the M3 versus 1M Coupe - which does look mean as ever in person.

Funny yes, but not a good review. No facts, just subjective opinion. I also loved the look of sheer terror on his face while trying to control that 1m. They probably did a lot of editing too. He needs an auto probably...

I still like the 1m though in spite of this tool.
