Trackday/Fun car build.

This is my first mod. I found the seats to high up and does not give good side support. So i startet to mount some Racaro seats.

Get original seats out.

Put Recaro XL in.

The original seats are very very heavy in compare to the Raceseats. Thats a nice plus also. Need to go to at least 1300kg. When the car is ready.

Looking good, might just as well get rid of the backseat, as there's no more access!?. Subscribed

What is the name/article number of the steering wheel : Gotta have that in leather

Is the grip equal diameter/as beefy as the stock wheel?

Yes but the alcantara gives more a racy feel.

how much lower is it? (it looks pretty low)
I'm very tempted to do this, only to the driver's side as i want to retain the use of back seats.

Difficult to say how much lower. But it s a lot.

I have mounted no rollers under it to get even lower. For me it s perfect i am 1.89 cm tall. Can easily wear a helmet and still have some gap between the roof.

Thats going to take some doing on a car starting at night on 1500kg

my OPC was 1330kg to start with and I have just managed to get it down to nigh on 1200kg and that's removing all oem seats and replacing with recaro pole positions, all sound proofing and just refitting the carpet back over, all seats belts and pre tensioners, side impact bars in the doors and all speakers and insulation, aircon and plumbing, light weight battery, 18" light weight alloys weight 8kg each (without rubber) all airbags removed, polycarb windows in the rear, and the usual lighter exhaust, coilovers, even cut out the steel skeleton on the bonnet and removed fog lights etc, I fitted a lightweight half cage in the rear. Plus its only a 4cylinder turbo lump up front and fwd......

So will be interested in seeing how much you can get out especially if you go the whole hog and acid dip the shell and do a full race prep strip out

Second seat is also mounted.

Nice! SPG XLs look great. I really want to pick up some SPGs but I know some of family members won't fit in the standard SPG. How much bigger is the XL?

Did you need a custom floor adapter? or did the seat side mounts bolt to the floor?

The original seat mounts from recaro will fit.

You need to drill new holes in the seat side mounts but then you can use the orginale bolts and mounting points from bmw.

you need aproxx 1 cm thick washers between the seat and the side mounts to fit perfectly.

A friend of mine is bmw mechanic he wil make a bypass cable for the airbag light. The seatbelt i got it off my original seat and i got it back into the original cable of the car. So no light fault there.

did you look at the sporster cs seat ? It looks like the bmw performance seats and I do want to keep the use of my back seats.

I don't want to be a downer but I was in a bad track accident 10 years ago and my M3 rolled at Summit Point. The roof collapsed the back of my seat and flattened me out. If I had a rigid race seat I would not have made it.

So you have mounted no slider? Is that legal? I thought the driver seat needs to be adjustable?
Would love to have such seat in mine! Just do not want to loose the backseats and need to be able to move the seat. That will be a bit challenge..

rofl

Did you put the old seats on the scale so we can check how many weight we can save by putting in Recaro race seats?
