Swaps are cool, I get it but in this case, why?
The N54 internals are about as stout as just about anything out there and a good deal lighter the the Toyota plant and of course the power they can crank out is mind blowing. We have a guy right here who’s laying down over 750 wheel!
Power wise what’s your goal?

N55, there was a hole in the piston from dropped valve.
2j swap just seemed like a fun.

How would you rate the difficulty of the swap?

Not too worry, looks like they kept the OEM Coolant expansion tank. I give it less than 10k miles before that thing cracks.

Um was fairly challenging. The wiring being the biggest thing to swing. Currently the car is wired with dual ECUs running on a Link G4+ Fury wiring was done by Panic Wire a local guy who took particular interest in the swap and what I wanted to accomplish.

The factory DME can be fully removed with the Link Fury if the PT-CAN data can be deciphered giving you full control of the cars CAN Bus systems. There is a company I'm working with to get this Data to make this a complete swap. You will see all creature comforts in this build in the near future.

Engine is solid mounted and bolted to the factory BMW 6 speed manual. Unfortunately with the adapter plate the engine is a little far forward to run the factory engine fan. I'm working on 3d printing a slimmer shroud for the fan and will control it with the CAN Data as it's similar to the e46.

Running a rear sump oil pan on the 2j gives you clearance over the subframe without issue but this is a drift car and I wanted to get a better angle to the driveshaft so I notched the subframe. This wasn't necessary at all as it's only an inch of drop but I was shooting for optimal CoG.

The BMW electronic throttle is similar CAN Data to the e46 and allowed complete removal of the throttle cable and the cars pedal is synced to the throttle body allowing full drive by wire and it works damn good. Like wow I was surprised the Link Fury made it effortless.

The car factory requires you to run a return fuel line and am still waiting to get the CAN Data here to control the fuel pump, it's on a circuit currently.

The car will be tuned on e85 next weekend with a Dyno day later in the month we are aiming for 700hp.

Haha awesome project man. Reading your full write up, seems pretty involved, but it's going to be sweet!
