We won't be able to send the samples to Berk right away. As it's only a single front and rear wheel, that we are technically not allowed to drive on. I'll look into bringing over two rear wheels for actual drive testing. I probably wouldn't bring in a front as there are enough wheels on the market that can simulate a front fitment.

Can I just ask what you mean by all 5 wheels? I am assuming this means the 18x10 as well? As you know, I paid for a 18x9.5 and 18x10 combo...

Just some updated images of the new colors.

Here are the 4 colors we're looking to produce the 18's in.

this last photo shows the 6 colors we've done to date, purely for comparison purposes. Matte black will no longer be produced, it's almost a flat primer paint that scratches easily. Motorsport although very unique has not seen enough demand. It will only be used for limited groupbuy batches in the future and not this initial batch. The above 4 color are set. one off colors cannot be done. it would take 10-15 ADDITIONAL people to produce something other then the 4 main colors above.

Can someone explain Hyperblack to me. They look like satin chrome/silver. Why are they called HyperBLACK?

This is what hyperblack looks like from this manufacturer. I will probably request for it to be darkened again for the 18" batch as it was even lighter when i received production samples for these 17's at the beginning of the year.

The finish will never look the same from manufacturer to manufacturer. The "Hyper" part is the emphasis in the name not the black. Note that the barrel is painted gloss black. This means the whole wheel started as black and then had silver misted over it. Hyper silver is a base coat of silver, with the even finer silver misted over it. You get a different effect. That is why it is hyperblack.

Luckily it's being made in 4 colors, so if it's not your things there's still 3 others

Hyper black looks different from every angle and in different light. You could describe it as being a bit chrome like. It's just the effect of the black undercoating.

same finish by other manufacturers

Thank you. I think BMW had a wheel finish called Shadow Chrome on the Z-series M-Coupe. That's what it looks like to me. I like it.

We were thinking about renaming it to that, but the renaming may cause further confusion.

Maybe it's the angle of the picture, but the center of the wheel looks deeper than what is shown on the drawing. Makes it looks kinda odd. Still, can't wait to see it mounted!

You are correct. Because those are not 18" 1 series wheels. Those are E36/E46 17x9" wheels with a 42mm offset.

The 1 series wheels will not go in as deep in the hub area.

EDIT: as mentioned, 18" samples will be arriving in about 9 days.

Everything seems on track. There was a customs hold up before when they shipped me samples, because the customs office found it fishy that multiple boxes were coming through. If that happens again, with the 18th being a friday, it could turn into a Monday delivery.

I hate all this waiting as I'm sure you all do. I'm also working on another 1 series project at the moment. I won't release any public information on that one for about 1 month to minimize the wait time. People will be excited about that release. And the people from this groupbuy made it possible to get that ball rolling as well.

These are not limited production. This is just the initial production. We always setup a GroupBuy to launch a new product as we use customer feedback to create a better product, and to make sure there is a minimum level of interest to make production possible.

The GroupBuy is starting next week and will close in October. These wheels will be readily available without the groupbuy (and without the savings), for as long as there is interest in a wheel of this size.

Prototype wheels are not arriving today sadly. I received an update email saying they would arrive the 23rd now (this coming Wednesday). I'm not sure what happened. I won't know until Sunday or Monday as they are a day ahead and won't be able to explain why until it's Monday there.

I want to thank Nitto Tires and the TOTAL/Nitto sponsored 135 team for sending 235, 245, 265, 275, 285 tires for testing (for all wheels not just 1 series).

I'm looking for a stock 1 series and a modified 1 series with camber plates and a lowered suspension to do some test fitting of our samples. I have a stock car lined up already, but not a modified one, and back-ups are always welcome.
