I can recommend that you go with the TCK suspension over the KW V3. The V3's have hard initial compression damping and can make the car feel harsh and cause some initial turn-in understeer. The Koni's that TCK uses has a much better damping characteristics.

And then there are the Dutch built AST monotube coilovers that are getting excellent reviews.

mikeo is spot-on with the AST recommendation. I ran Ohlins Flags on my Evo and the AST are similarly valved. I almost chose the AST's but GT Worx and Ohlins made me a fantastic offer that I couldn't refuse. I'll either be on TCK Koni's or AST for my 135i.

Hi Charles, Great writeup! I'm going to take my 135i to TCK this weekend for a makeover. Still debating on the new shoes-Breytons or BMW Performance Wheels. TCK has the Breytons their at the shop so I'm going to take a look at it up close. I'll post a before and after pics once completed. Thanks for making my suspension decision easier-wasn't quite sure which one to do-but now I do! Can't wait!!!

Bosco412 - not sure if you saw my post a couple weeks back in the "track" section but I met TCK himself at our BMWCCA track event at Mid-Ohio and he had his white 1er there with the Breyton's and it looked really nice. Definitely recommend the visit and seeing them in person. BTW, the Breyton's should be lighter too I believe. Keep us posted and provide pic's when done. Attached are a few pic's of his ride with the wheels on them if you haven't seen it yet.

TMc, Thanks for the info. We were debating between those Breytons and the BMW Performance Wheels. I think we will go with the Breytons! We will be leaving in about an hour to head to Santa Barbara for the makeover. Can't wait! I'll make sure to take a before and after photo and post them! Thanks again!!

TC is running at the OFest Autocross in a couple weeks. I can ask him if we do not find out by then. Still unsure which car he'll be driving, but it's likely to be the Carbon Coupe.

Just got back from TCK Racing out in Santa Barbara. Got the opportunity to meet the owner, TC and Mark. What great guys! The shop was a class act which reflects upon the owners. Everything Charles has mentioned was spot on. We even had the honor of having lunch with them and got to do a little shop talk. As far as spring rates are concerned they are 350 in the front and 500 in the rear, using 10" springs. Below you will find the before photos. Please excuse the dirty car it hasn't been bathed yet. Tomorrow we will get it detailed and post photos of it.

cool!!! Give us your driving impressions of the setup. I'm highly considering it, but I don't want anything too harsh like my M3.

Looks incredible - great choice, I'm glad you went with them and had a chance to speak with TC and crew. Class act indeed.
I might have missed it but what rubber and sizes did you go with on those wheels? I would love to take mine 245 all around as TCK has done on his 1 but not sure of your final setup...? Where you able to dial in any neg camber or did you even have them try? I assume you would have needed camber plates to do so but curious if any more could be achieved vs. stock if you went without the plates. Thanks and congrats!!

On all 4 corners? What tire sizes and brand are you running? For some reason I was thinking there would be fitment problems with this combination.

Bosco, we need to know if you had to use spacers on the front 18x8.5 Breytons, and if so what size. Would also appreciate you posting the setup to this sticky. Thanks.
