I wound up getting a package with the H&R front sway bar and the Cross aluminum strut bar. Give Dan a call at Vivid Racing. I don't know what their current pricing is, but I suspect he can work with you some, especially if you pick up additional items.

I did much of the installation myself, but you probably need to plan on about $400 for a turn-key installation, as you will need to spend some time on alignment as well.

If you decide to go this route, PM me for some installation tips that may save you some time/money. I learned a few "lessons" during my installation.

right on. i've been talking to Call about this. he has some go-to guys for alignment and suspension, so perhaps i can go that route. definitely going to need to bring it to a shop to do the full install.

would love of a long-term review opinion, if you can swing it.

about to pull the trigger.

I really haven't driven the car much with my current home situation. I'm still looking forward to getting back to the track with it, but it gets my adrenaline going every time I drive it on a back road. It is firm, although it would ride better if I would get rid of the RFTs. I'm too cheap to throw them away before they are used up.

My offer of a test ride still stands. That will give me an excuse to take it out for a spin.

i'm about to get the Cross kit with the M3 sways and CSLs and non-RFT's.

What size and offsets are those wheels? You will lose about 5mm clearance on the inside with the coilovers. You may need spacers.

18x8.5 et40
18x9.5 et45

there are a few 1's running these wheels with the KW V3's - not sure how much difference in clearance you lose between the two coilover systems.

If you run 225's up front, you'll probably be OK.

I ran 235s on 8.5 ET40 wheels, and there was about paper thickness clearance to the strut. Eventually, I hope to run 245/40-17 all around.

yeah - it'll be 225-40's up front, 245-35's on the rear.

frickin' tempted by the TCK's now. why did you go with Cross over the TCK's?

I've never been happy with the Konis I've used in the past. The TCK setup is probably much better than the basic "yellow" shocks I've used before, but that was part of it. They were also more expensive. Don't forget, camber plates are included with Cross. But, the primary reason was that I drove a car with the Cross setup and I liked the feel of it. The TCK may be just as good or better, but for me the Cross setup was a known quantity.

Hi m3bs, how are the cross coilovers on the road as far as noise is concerned. Any suspension noise over rough roads, RR tracks, bumps etc that you would consider annoying or excessive?

There is a bit more road noise transmitted through the front strut mounts, but nothing I can't live with. That might also be helped by replacing the RFTs. I didn't notice it when I drove Call's car (on non-RFT), but then again I had just spent all day at Road Atlanta in my M3, which makes any road car seem quiet.

Great review, glad to hear you are liking them. The Cross are a great product, definitely underestimated and unknown by the community. Been trying to get them out to people for awhile now, they hit a nice price point well under a comparable product like TCK. They provide a monotube design and come with the camper plates for under $3000.

Keep a going review on it, I am sure we would all love to hear your continued impressions of them.

i think i may stick with getting the Cross, but i'm just worried about clearance with the wheels that I'm about to order tomorrow. i'm on research overdrive, ha!

the VMR VB3's are 18x8.5 et40 (225/40) and 18x9.5 et45 (255/35). EAS was running their 1 with the same shoes but with the KW V3's - i want to know if the clearance would be similar between the two coilover systems.

KW coilovers usually offer some of the lowest settings for ride height, so if EAS didn't have any issues with their system; I'm thinking the JIC/Cross should provide ample clearance. Maybe some other guys will chime in too.

thanks, Adam.
Tom @ eas replied today: "There was a tiny bit of rubbing on aggressive cornering using the 255 Direzza Star Specs in the rear, these have been changed to Yokohama AD08 in 245 size to compensate."

not sure if he was talking about fender rubbing, liner rubbing, or spring rubbing?

The ride height is adjustable so what is the issue?

I'm hoping to get the car back on the track next week for a followup. If I can work out how to get all of the wheels down there, I'll try it with the OE wheels & RFTs, as well as a worn-out set of 17" track tires.

Its not the camber plates, the front shock travel is less than stock so it bottoms out over bigger holes. No way around this.
