TPMS question

Hi:

Sorry if this is a noob question - I tried searching the forum and couldn't find an answer. This is my first car in a decade and my first BMW

I have a 2011 135i M-Sport w/iDrive

My front right tire is flat (and as far as I can tell the previous owner mounted non-run flats on the front but run flats in the rear)

However, the TPMS is still showing all tires as green (meaning I didn't get a warning when the tire went flat)

What gives? Did the previous owner "code out" the TPMS so that the tires stay green at all time?

Thanks!

Failed TPMS or wasn't installed when new tires put on?

Bingo. That is what it sounds like to me.

Btw... it's a big NoNO to mix RFTs with non RFTs. You should run all four of the same tires(and brand and model tire) on your car.

The TPMS module is located in the right rear of the trunk, under the sound insulation. It's probably been disconnected. That's what people do when they code out the TPMS sensors.

IF he coded in the ROW tire monitors... then the car would detect a flat tire via the car's wheel speed sensors. But since you said the car's TPMS did not warn you of a flat tire... the TPMS has been coded out.

Thanks for the reply guys. I will investigate this further.

According to another member on this forum, Canadian 1ers didn't come with TPMS sensors. Instead, they use wheel speed sensors to determine if you have a flat or not. (Regardless, the system didn't notify me when I got a flat).

If the previous owner did indeed "code out" the system, what's the best way to reverse it? Would Carly be any help here?
