Question Polishing and waxing question???

Can someone post a couple of pictures of what they tape off when polishing and waxing their 1'er???

How do you handle a clear bra?? Maybe Menzena Nano polish? No polish? Then seal.

Thanks in advance.

I don't really tape anything off...but I do have a soft tooth brush that I use to get those hard to reach places.

Definitely tape the edge of your clear bra.....it will drive you crazy trying to get the polish out of the edge. Also, I would tape emblems and any trim you don't want to get polish on (ie Shadowline trim, etc)

Would you seal the clear bra and shadow line after the polish, or keep it taped for the sealer also (I'm planning on using zaino z2 and z5)

Still haven't picked a polish, I ordered ZP-c, but from reading it seems a little aggressive for the fact that the car is brand new and has no scratches at all. I figured I'd pick up some menzerna micro polish for this.

I'm curious about the comment on the shadowline trim. Isn't that just painted rather than chromed? (I would go look at my car but it's still in prison at the port.) In that case, using Zaino, I would normally, just polish that too.

The only issues I normally have with Zaino are the soft rubbery areas/seals. but those usually just rub right out anyway. Zaino seems particularly forgiving in this regard versus a typical wax. Unless I'm missing something?

I'm going to use Menzerna 85rd for the polish on the brand new paint...supposedly very mild. I will seal everything including the trim and clear bra with Zaino z2

I highly recommend the Menzerna PO106FF. I also recommend the blue buffing pads from Chemical Guys. I just used this combo last night and once again the 106ff is an amazing polish.

Can Menzerna 85rd and Zaino z2 be applied by hand or must you use an orbital? I have no experience with the orbital and don't want to damage the paint on my new 1er.

You putting the Z2 directly over the Menzerna? Did you use Zaino's accelerator or just straight?

I say polish and wax your shadowline trim. You will find it gets a slight purple colour to it over time and it takes a good waxing to correct it.

Well, yes. The Menzerna is a polish, so once it goes on, you buff, and wipe off and it's gone. So you don't really put anything over it per se.

I'm going to use the additive because then you don't have to wait 24 hours to add another coat supposedly. I'll be honest, I don't buy into some of the Zaino hijinks ie: Use Z6 before Z2, add ZFX, etc. But whatever, I'm a sucker for a nice finish.

Here are some helpful tips that I always pass on to my customers who purchase and have an Invisible Bra installed by us......

  • Keep Invisible Bra Film Waxed
  • Use 3M Automotive painters tape on the edge to prevent wax buildup where the bra and paint meet.
  • Take a soft lint-free rag and gently press down all the edges of the film within the first twenty-four (24) hours.
  • Keep dirt and wax out of and away from the edges of the film.
  • Do not use any petroleum based products on the film, or waxes and polishes that contain abrasives or dyes.
  • The film is very susceptible to water spotting. Hard water deposits that are baked on by the sun cannot be removed, and are not covered under any warranty.
  • Failure to maintain the film voids all warranties.
  • It can take up to 4 months for all the moisture to evaporate from under the film.
