CURRENT best spark plugs?
Hey all,
N54 going MHD 2+ pretty soon and I want to make sure everything is up to par. It was my understanding that the best plugs were NGK 5992 (gapped 0.022), though I heard these aren't made anymore and were replaced by NGK 95770, which have apparently caused problems for a lot of people. My question is, what are the current "go-to" plugs for stage 2+ recommended by the community? Thank you. |

I'm using the one step colder 97506 with standard gap, being MHD Stage 2+ as well and it runs smoothly. I can't say it's really an improvement over the stock Bosch (which worked just fine in my case).
In my case they were just easier to find and cheaper. |

I run the NGK 95770 and love em so far. Have put about 2500 miles on em so far. Was always a Bosch car before and as long as no problems pop up later in their live I won’t be going back to Bosch.
Hope this helps. |

95706 works well for me. Never had a problem with OEM plugs either. I gapped the 95706s to .020 per Burger’s recommendations. Ironically enough I went HMD a week later and I’m much happier.

Any difference between these two options? https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ngk-part...f-six/97506kt/ or https://burgertuning.com/products/ng...nt=32079075982 First link says one step colder, 2nd link says two step but both have the same 97506 part numbers
Is it necessary to gap these? If so, any other plug and play options? I'm FBO + E30, soon to be E50 as soon as an aftermarket lpfp arrives. |

They are the same plugs, the difference is in relation to the N54 v. N55 engines. When BMW went to the N55 engine, they went one step colder on the plugs from the factory. So the 95706s are two-steps colder from stock N54 plugs, but are only one-step colder from the stock N55 plugs. I ordered my set from Burger just because you also get the gapping tool and the nice magnetic plug socket. Very helpful.
Although I am not certain, I would assume that you have to gap the plugs from ECS. |
