Service message (help)

Been getting this lately. What is involve in this routine service check? The engine oil was changed during the Spring.

This is the first service under my possession. Bought the car in Aug13 with 38K miles and now it has around 49K. The car went out of the 4 year free service maintenance last year. The dealer will charge close to $300.

How, can you reset the message service? Is it a must to service the car?

Thank you guys for your help. Now I got the SES light, so will take it to the dealer.
