BMW changed their parts service warranty !!!
So after a trip to the dealer I found out the new policy is if you get a part replaced under warranty it's only covered under the new car warranty till your existing warranty expires, so even if you get the part replaced right before your warranty expires and it dies again a week after your warranty is over your out of luck. No more 2 year unlimited miles on parts inside your warranty window. 2 year unlimited miles is only good for out of warranty work, but your paying for it.
I guess it just changed last month. My service adviser was just telling me all the details. Sucks! Just thought I'd share as I'm not sure if it's wildly known. Again this is a new policy so some may not know yet. |

yeah that lemon law n Florda would protect against this. if they replace a part and it goes out tomorrow that is clearly a defect in manufacturing that would have to be litigated i guess.

Yup. Doing an engine job now, and was informed that when the vehicle goes out of warranty (about 60 miles) it's no longer covered.....which I find to be complete bullshit.

I don't believe that's true...
http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/conte...parts-overview "Every Original BMW Part is engineered to make your BMW perform the way it should. They are crash-tested to ensure high quality and designed to seamlessly match every component in your vehicle. Every part comes with a two-year unlimited mileage warranty, so it pays to keep it original." |

Also the two year warranty still is intact but only after warranty and you pay out of pocket. Your new car warranty only covers parts inside your new car warranty limits and once it's over all parts fixed under that plan are now unwarrantied. It sounds like cost cutting to me. |

I think well find a class action over this rather soon if BMW was actually stupid enough to do it. Never heard of parts not carrying a warranty before, what a terrible business model.
