There is no point in getting a performance car with auto transmission. Your much better off just getting the lower spec model.
I've ordered the stick shift, because I would love to play with the gears. However, it is a lot easier to get the performance out of the 135i. It was quite sensational, very quick response, rev match in down shifts. I was quite surprised how responsive it is.

Did you get the BMW kit or an aftermarket kit? I wouldn't mind getting the BMW kit, but I don't need the included shifter and boot.

It's nice having a wife who has no problems driving a manual. Makes my decision that much simpler!

She complains that the engagement is too high and the reverse gear is tough to get into, but she has no complaints once she's on the open road!

I have manual and love it, just love the control and feel with manual. Auto trannies have come a long way but comes down to preference. I'm getting the dinan SSK and a CDV soon. The dinan because I don't need the shifter.

the proper way to enjoy the 135i performance is with a stick, period.

I actually really llike the auto in the 135i. With the paddles and rev matching downshifts it makes the 135i fun, and you get the ability to put up with NY traffic.

unless you are in constant bumper to bumper Chicago traffic. Went with the stick, even though the wife and I both learned to drive sticks way back in the day.
