Why do OEM wheels look better on Bimmers?
I think VW's look great with most aftermarket wheels, but when it comes to Bimmer's I think they look better with OEM wheels...not necessarily the wheels that came on the car, but any other BMW wheel as well.
Anyone with me? |

I tend to agree with you. I suppose the wheel design generally jives with the type of body work. There are aftermarket wheels that look good as well, but generally I think the OEM wheels combine sporty and classy very well when on a BMW. (then again, there are some not-so-great OEM BMW styles, mostly just a little too conservative)

I agree... After looking for aftermarket wheels for about a month I went with my gut and just upgraded to the OEM 135 Wheels. I couldn't be happier with these.

Wheel selection is very subjective....and there are lots of good looking wheels for Bimmers -- OEM styles included.
As for myself, I was looking to shed some unsprung weight...an aesthetic improvement would be a bonus. I happen to think my car looks a bit better with the new lighter wheels than the stockers (which weren't bad looking by any means :wink, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder....

I agree. I had the 161s on my 3 sedan and changed them out to the 162s, which is my fav wheel for the sedan and I ordered my 3 coupe with sports package and will keep those on the car as well. Not sure yet if Ill be getting the 135i once my sedan lease is up or another 3 series.:iono:

Same here. I'm starting to think if our stock wheels were on tirerack we would all think it's hot. After actively searching for months, my stock started to look better and better.
^Those Breytons sure does look good though.

I think it's because BMW puts a lot of effort into wheel design. IMO they have for a long time had the best looking OEM wheels of all makes. Love my 261Ms!

Yeah, but all of the praise for their designs BMW deserves to be damned for not making all of the wheels available as options in all of their markets. No 261Ms on US orders for example.
