A clean car is a happy car...
Which makes mine pretty sad right now.

Except she's only too happy to let me pile on the miles. 250 yesterday, 100 today, and another 250 tomorrow.
Thinking to clean her up, but I'm doing the same next weekend.

Gotta at least remove some of the bugs.

What rims are those?
They are Sport Edition SE-16's, 17x7.5. They were on closeout from Tire Rack and looked nice.

I personally like the orange much better than the fake wood I wrapped. It suits the fun, sporty character of the car better than fake, boring wood.

I changed the oil yesterday. Gonna see how 0W-40 does...
Pulled the camber pins in the front...

The turn-in is INCREDIBLE! The steering has come alive, and has thankfully lightened-up! Literally, 10 minutes of tinkering has yielded the third largest improvement in handling to my car (behind the rear subframe work (bushings, control arms, sway bar, inserts), and shocks/springs). I haven't taken it on my favorite "handling test road" yet, but I will later this afternoon. I can't wait!

Don't think the wood fits our sporty coupe either. Had it in my first 1er and didn't much like it. Now I have the aluminum trim, and while I can't say I love it, it doesn't look as out of place to me as the wood did, especially with my black interior. Others like the wood and think it looks just right. To each their own, I guess.

My walnut wood trim is rare and that made me like it even more. And swapping it out is a pita anyway. Have to take the whole console apart just because of the little trim around the shifter.

Agreed. The type/colors look very different. I have the poplar w/ grey grain and Alaska grey seats + DCT. It's a dark burl wood and looks good in my opinion. I think that is partly b/c it's not over done. The DCT surround is silver and shifter is not wood.

Huh, Alaska Grey, never seen that one beforeĦ

Dis mine. Piano black would have looked the best, I think, in combination with the silver Performance pedals, e-brake and so on. but it ain't worth it... Who knows what's gonna happen to the car next year.

I thought it was just called Boston Gray Leather. At least that's what mine is called.

Boston Leather refers more to the "texture" (not as smooth as Nappa, for instance.) Unless they actually get it from Boston Leather, but I find that suspect.

Comes in 2 gray's on the 1er: There's a Perl Grau with blue accents, and an Alaska Grey.
According to RealOEM, anyway.

Yep Boston Leather, Alaska Grey color

"LEDER BOSTON 2/AL ALASKAGRAU/SW (LWAL)"

"FINE-WOOD TRIM OPLAR GRAIN GREY"

I think that is supposed to say "poplar" though.

Mine is the only Space Grey Metallic & Grey interior I've seen. It's basically a stripper 135i w/ no options but it has the DCT & adaptive headlights but no Idrive leather w/ grey headliner. Not sure if it was a custom order or parts bin 2011 mid-LCI run.

This might help. It's pretty easy. Use a credit card to loosen the seal, press forward to slide it lose and then pull it out & unplug it. The new one goes in the same in reverse.
