Suspension on 3-series same as 1-series?
anyone know if the suspension on the current 3 series is exactly the same as 1-series? therefore the aftermarket suspension like bilstein pss9 and kwV2 for like a 335i will fit for 135i?

Wander to this forum, http://www.1addicts.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=31 and search on PSS9 (as an example). These have been discussed, search is your friend!

seems like a yes or no answer to me..which would be easier responded to with either a "yes" or a "no"..rather than sending him on a "search" for a "yes" or a "no"

Well, at this time, it's not a yes or no answer.
It's similar and shares some components. The pics of the rear suspension that I took up close on the 135i, look fairly identical to my e90's rear suspension. If you're looking for a definitive.. I would say it's similar, but has different spring and rebound rates, because of the different weight, height, and center of gravity. Who's to know, until we have access to the part number???? |

The front is carried on an aluminum subframe similar to the bigger Bimmers, while the rear is a 5 link setup "borrowed" from the 5 series. Not taken over from the existing model lines

The double-pivot front axle is the same design as the current 3,5,6,& 7 series, and older 5,7,& 8s.
The HA5 rear axle is from the E90, not the E60. The rear end of the E82 is 20mm wider than the E9x, due to different hubs. The Integral 4 rear end of the E60 is completely different. I highly recommend reading the ST707 training manual, since the suspension of the E8x is covered. |
