GTX3584RS 1.01 Dyno Results

Hope you don't mind me intruding once again? Just wanted to congratulate you on an excellent result and that engine bay!

From what I have seen thus far the GTX3584RS seems to deliver peak results at approximately 32-33psi, possibly a touch higher. I base this statement on real world results across a range of platforms and from crunching the numbers using the compressor map. Lots of variables at play here of course but the real world results certainly seem to match the theory.

As for my GTX3584RS 1.01 combo, I finally managed to head back to the dyno and commence tuning after strengthening the bottom end in my old RB25/30.

We encountered a slight set-back with the ignition breaking down whenever boost was increased above ~24psi. But a stout 505rwkw (Dynotech/Dyno Dynamics roller dyno) at 24psi was a reasonable starting point. A quick upgrade to R35 ignition coils solved the misfire issue. The next issue was Injector DC hitting 96%. That put a stop to the party at a max of 29psi boost. There is certainly more in the GTX3584RS 1.01 combo'.

Ambient conditions were a bit average on the day but near enough to 550rwkw at 29psi is a good result. Here's the dyno run:

Thanks and well done, Matt.

What RPM are you running for that number?

We hit just under 500rwkw at 5100rpm.

Looks like I need much more bling to get close to the immaculate engine bay you have. :-)

Thank you very much.

Peak power arrives at approximately 5900rpm and peak torque at 4700rpm.
Torque delivery is quite aggressive, it doubles in a mere 700rpm! That's where the Racelogic TC system comes into play.

250Nm @ 2300rpm
350Nm @ 3200rpm
400Nm @ 3700rpm
550Nm @ 4000rpm
800Nm @ 4400rpm
900+Nm (920-930ish) @ 4700rpm
900Nm @ 5100rpm
850Nm @ 5500rpm
825Nm @ 5700rpm

For additional info' and a rough comparison, the workshop I'm involved with have a customer with an RB30 powered VL Commodore. It is equipped with the much larger GTX4202R (76mm compressor inducer vs. GTX3584RS 67mm) and thousands of dollars spent on head porting and so forth. It produces 617rwkw and 1000Nm at approximately 39-40psi on the same dyno'.

Thanks again! The bling is probably a little over the top by current standards - black is the new black - but I started down the polished/red/blue theme well over 15 years ago and I'm kind of stuck with it now.

Would love to see a GTX 3076R and I'm sure it will still be way to much power for most while it will have more power than any twin setup everywhere.

Looking forward to more details.
The Gen2 GTX3076R is capable of supporting upwards of 450rwkw in E85 applications. Even the "little" Gen2 GTX3071R can punch out 380+rwkw. A friend has the latter fitted to his 2.5L RB25DET Neo running on E85 and boost capped at 23-24psi - see attached dyno sheet from previous tuning session. Further tuning liberated 381rwkw at 23-24psi.

I have limited this car to around 670whp as its still a stock motor. Testing indicates there is possibly another 150whp, maybe more with a fully built motor, proper fueling, head etc.

Nice car, Boosted_N54.

Comparing dyno results between the US and Australia can be problematic. It all depends on the specific dyno but the popular US Dynojet tends to deliver results that are significantly higher (15 to 20+%) compared to the Dyno Dynamics and Mainline units that are popular in Australia.

The topic is discussed here by well known High Peformance Academy automotive technical and tuning guru, Andre Simon:

Cheers. Been doing the odd country blast, enjoying the insanity while slowly perfecting a 98 tune with v8bait. From there not too sure yet, although the motor and trans swap are on the agenda but the original mechanicals have proven to be freakishly reliable...so far.

So here are the bare bones of the Motiv based kit on a spare motor.

- GTX3584RS with 1.01 rear housing shown although prefer running it with a 0.83
- 3 inch dump and 3 inch inlet.
- Tial or Turbosmart Wastegate (Tial here).
- Engine mount relocation not shown (earlier images show a race mount but I am running a fully developed comfort mount - like stock).
- Turbo scavenge tank with VDO pump return.
- Water coolant relocation not shown.
- Front housing neck shown in image below (no silicon off turbo)

Price mentioned on other forums at just under 20k inc GST.

We have a 335 owner who will drop the kit on with a 3076R soon.

Cool will be good to have some more low mount ST n54 around. There must only be two in Australia atm. I've had mine up and running for 5 months now and it's been great.

Nice to see a pic of your efforts. Differnt animal to twins.

What boost, fuel and trans are you running?

How do you find the screamer pipe and noise level?

The ceramic coating on my system works so well there is no need for a blanket and I have zero heat issues anywhere.

I am testing our variant 2 kit for the HP crazies.

I'm just on 98 at 19psi with manual transmission.

Screamer pipe is loud with the windows down and going through tunnels. But pretty quiet when windows are up. I actually find it assuring when I can hear it going off as I know I'm reaching boost targets.

LOL. My car is only loud when I open the 4inch straight through exhaust. Otherwise its as quiet as stock, which I love.

I am running 25psi on 98 and will see if I can get a tad more once I swap in a new MAC and change the faulty Boostbox. When it is finally tuned we will dyno a 98 only number.

We also have a stripped kit option, turbo guard (no inlet & filter) and a screamer pipe without exhaust return.

So with some luck most of the hardware and software Gremlins are gone on my Tubular Bottom Mount Manifold. Fingers crossed.

We decided to run base dyno number for our V8Bait tune for 98RON and a splash of E85.
Happy with the result at 23psi, Trofeo R tyres, 3.15 diff, 160 dyno ramp rate, super tight strap down and 6400rpm.
Zero degrees of timing and 30% throttle too.

This is not the limit of 98 on this car with my free flowing set-up and expect there is more in it as we progress to a final tune for street driving.

Original engine finally gave up the ghost at around 490rwkw+ doing some logs as I flipped back to E85 tuning. Was hoping to get one last dyno session out of her before dropping in the new donk that has been ready for a while.

Can't complain as she held up for 100,000km of bleeding edge tunes from 3 days old.

New engine is in.
Making a few minor mods at the fabricator before heading back to Advan for a start-up and some time on the dyno do a run-in.
