For those in the know about the M4 GTS
https://www.motorcarswashington.com/...6501774|324881
Why is this car not appreciating like I would have expected? What's the deal? Do people just not think it measures up to whatever? Aside from not being available in a Manual it seems pretty bad ass.....but, kinda a sleeper at the moment? Was it over produced??? |

In the US July 2018- 12 listed for sale September 2018 30+ listed for sale. The dealer I work at had one and sold it for a loss, the reasons why it’s slow sale and appreciation trend.
Trackish only car Spouse just don’t get it and harp to get rid of it due to no back seating rather have a Porsche damaged front carbon fiber $5000 replacement and won’t do that again DCT= meh, Manual trans keeps enthusiasts begging for more exhibit A: 1M 5yrs from now that time and patience will payoff tho |

No manual- DCT only BMW produced more than they originally announced they would. HEFTY price increase over base model - IIRC they began at 130K roughly DOUBLE base MSRP of 69K. poor performance vs. the competition (read: 911 ... See also - Camaro 1LE ) massive rear wing with seemingly finicky install/adjustment concerns boring paint options - Black, gray, white, and frozen gray or frozen black ... YAWN by the way.. most of the list applies to the M3 CS and M4 CS as well.. I just searched on auto trader earlier today and found M4 CS for as cheap as 86K when the base price was 98K. I have heard that BMW even resorted to applying the same lease programs as the regular models to the CS in order to try and get them to move. Personally.. I just don't consider the BMW M3 or M4 (or M2 for that matter) to be a six figure car. That's M5 Territory... of course the F80 M3 is about as big as 5er but I digress.. I know 2 GTS owners personally, and have seen another dozen or so cars at various tracks around the country . Most of the owners of the GTS I have seen are owners that track their vehicles ... so it is nice to see most aren't being treated as museum pieces. One of my friends has owned his since NEW and the other just picked his up at a similar price to the one above. For me.. the M4 GTS is simply too large a vehicle. Even at that price.. between overall size of the platform and DCT only... I am still not interested. IF BMW chooses to make an M2 CS or CSL with a 6 speed then I will have it. If M2 (further progress) comes with DCT only.. there will be little to no interest from me. An M2 further progress with DCT ONLY and priced higher than 80K seems like it would be a similar bust. I dunno... with the way that BMW is turning out annual vehicle model updates like Cel phone manufacturers ....... While I can see that BMW may not decide to make an M2 their first model to return to the CSL name... however.. There still seems time for BMW to sneak out another First Ever..... the " First Ever " M4 CSL ... F82 M4 EOP is 06/20 F82 M4 CS EOP is 02/20 F82 M4 CSL possible mule sightings already ... ??? and then they certainly could roll out not only an M2 CS but an M2 CSL as well. F87 M2 EOP is 06/21 F87 M2 CS mule sightings already... F87 M2 CSL ?? Otherwise.. the CSL moniker will stay on ice until 2022 or so... and .. I just don't see that happening.. BMW AG is way too much in love with the words " First Ever " right now.. Last edited by M3 Adjuster; 02-21-2019 at 03:25 PM.. |

I don't think the M4 was particularly memorable in any way in standard form; which is also partially why special versions of the M4 are sort....eh!

well.. it didn't take long after my post for the M2 CS to drop..
I will be in line for the M2 CS as it will come in a manual , according to the new info that is out. As far as the M4 GTS... I think if one is interested they are a good value now as they languish... and I still wonder if an M4 CSL is coming... of course it would probably be 145-155K MSRP.... so a GTS at half that price still represents a bargain.... but if one instead wants the cutting edge best damn vehicle available from BMW... my bet is they don't let the F82 M4 sunset without another hot model.. and I bet it will be announced as the " first ever BMW M4 CSL.
